We are getting more animals than ever before! We have 128 animals in our charge, 31 of them in critical condition. Lack of treatment can cause irreversible sequelae and, in some cases, the death of some animals. We need help to save them!
The number of stray animals is growing exponentially and the entry of new animals into the AAL has gone out of control. We have 128 animals, of which 31 are sick: panleukopenia, calicivirus, eye ulcers, pneumonia, hypothyroidism, epilepsy, mouth diseases, diseases resulting from abuse and neglect are some examples of the serious problems that our animals are experiencing.
We appeal to you to help us to save and treat these animals. They are animals with sad life stories, some with traumas for what they went through and that deserve a happy ending. There are 31 patients who have struggled so hard to survive and who deserve the best effort on our part, an effort that alone cannot be achieved.
Join us in this fight and help us share this message!

About the author
The Animal Association of Lisbon (AAL) is a non-profit association whose purpose is to protect and defend animals and whose mission is to save and help abandoned and at-risk animals, promoting their recovery and referral for responsible adoption.
At AAL we carry out the rescue, treatment, recovery and referral for adoption (with subsequent monitoring of the adoption process) of stray animals. All our animals are taken in by Temporary Care Families (FAT) in order to guarantee the care and comfort that an animal at risk needs. There are currently 45 FAT's supporting 128 animals.
The objectives of the AAL are also:
-
Promote activities that contribute to the defense of the rights of animals, namely through sterilization campaigns, clarification and awareness-raising actions on animal protection
-
Promote exchange and cooperation with individuals, associations and national and foreign institutions that pursue objectives identical to those of the association;
-
Raise public awareness of the huge problem of animal overpopulation and the importance of sterilizing all companion animals;
-
Raise awareness among the population about animal welfare and fight abandonment;
-
Denounce mistreatment and intervene with the competent authorities in order to comply with the animal protection law;
-
Disseminate information on animal protection and appropriate care for animals.
In the last year, we rescued more than 600 animals, of which 470 were sent for adoption, 16 were returned to their colonies because they were not domesticable, 30 did not resist their diseases and the rest stayed with us. We remain focused on our mission to save, care and provide a happy life to all animals that come to us.
