Due to Covid-19 young people from São Tomé came together to bring food to families in São Tomé and Príncipe who have no source of income and are subject to starvation.
The pandemic caused by Covid-19 (coronavirus) has been causing devastating consequences worldwide. And with the aim of preventing the transmission of the virus, several countries have adopted preventive measures, including social withdrawal (quarantine and home isolation) for the sake of public health.
In São Tomé and Príncipe, the same measure was imposed by the government on the population. However, it has not been easy. When we take a tour of the capital, we find small traders with their goods for sale, often without taking proper care of protection, since this is their only source of income.
These small merchants, independent workers, depend on their daily sales to support the family even though the removal is beneficial for the entire population, for these families the social removal is a problem, because they will be subject to starvation, because without the daily sales do not guarantee meals.
It is thinking about these families that we had the idea of creating this fundraising campaign to help people who cannot leave home to work in risky situations, putting not only their lives in danger, but also that of other people, because in these environments there is agglomeration and contact with several people without protection. We believe that with the distribution of basic food baskets to families or people in need due to social withdrawal, we can contribute to these people staying at home without fear.
It is in this sense that we ask for your support so that together we can support those who, when staying at home, will have nothing to eat. Help us to help, as a person at home can help safeguard the lives of many.
