Adopet App- Community to support responsible animal adoption

Adopet will be a free mobile application with two goals: 1) Responsible adoption community to find a new home for an animal 2) Support community for the rescue of lost animals through reporting in the application

The Adopet App appears with the objective of minimizing two major problems related to animals:

1. The number of animals in many animal care and treatment centers is greater than the current capacity they can handle. (1) (2)

2. In Portugal, on average, 8283 animals are reported missing per year. (3) (4)

In order to help minimize these problems, Adopet will be a free mobile application (android and iOS) with two main objectives:

1) Create a responsible adoption community, where users will be able to search for a new home for an animal, whether choosing to adopt it or allowing other users to do so, always in a responsible manner.

The main features to achieve this goal are:

• Publication in the main feed of the application of animals that need a home;

• Personalization and editing of the characteristics of the animal to be adopted;

• Possibility to indicate the necessary requirements for community users to be eligible for adoption;

• Communication between users through a direct chat for effective and objective communication;

• Sharing relevant information and spreading the need for responsible adoption by the various social networks.

2) Create a community to support the rescue of lost animals by reporting, via application, an animal reported as lost or found.

In order to maximize these numbers, the following features will be included:

• Integration with Google Maps, making it possible to identify on the map the places where the respective animals were reported missing / found, in order to increase the capacity for search and careful observation by the community;

• Service of notifications that will be sent, in real time, to the users, with the objective of alerting to the existence of animals that are lost or that have been found close to the user.

Through the features described above, the Adopet App aims to improve the quality of life of the animals most in need by arranging a family and a home suitable for them and also increasing the chances of an animal that has been lost being found, safe and sound, and returned to its family .

About the author

Adopet arises from a group of friends who have a great appreciation for animal life and who believe that this application can respond to the urgent need to solve the identified problems, by reaching a greater number of users who also share our concern with the life and animal welfare.

Adopet intends to help all those who want to adopt responsibly and, as well, provide the necessary tools to report a case of lost animal, in particular, a set of reliable information provided by the responsible animal treatment entities, which users must follow so they can help animals in the best way.

In our team we have three computer engineers and a designer who will be responsible for the prototyping, development and maintenance of the entire application.

Requested amount - 5000 €

PPL platform commission - € 461.25

Net amount - € 4538.75

The net value obtained will be applied as follows:

• Development Costs (4 human resources for development capacity) - € 2761

  • € 2761/12 months / 4 resources = € 57.52 per person / month (Allowances)

• Accommodation costs (2000 estimated minimum users) - € 771.62

• Advertising (Social Networks, Newspapers, Street Posters, Buses) - 656.13 €

• Rewards to project supporters (Acquisition Cost + Shipping Costs) - 350 €

• PPL Platform Commission - € 461.25

• Total - € 5000
