Vinicyus is 14 years old and has cerebral palsy. We need to adapt our vehicle to transport him safely and comfortably. Every help is a step towards a more dignified life.
My name is Edillayne Moura, and I'm the mother of Vinicyus, a 14-year-old boy with cerebral palsy. We're a Brazilian family living in Coimbra since 2018, and as immigrants, we're still building our lives in Portugal—currently, we only have a residency permit. Despite the difficulties, we've found love and hope here to provide our son with a more dignified and happy life.
Vinicyus was born with cerebral palsy and epilepsy, making him completely dependent on others for all activities of daily living. He faces significant challenges and recently underwent delicate surgery on his pelvis and spine (scoliosis), which makes daily care even more difficult due to the complexity of his mobility. Furthermore, Vinicyus cannot feed himself by mouth and is fed through a gastrostomy tube, which requires constant and very specific care.
As Vinicyus grows, transporting him has become increasingly difficult and risky. Any trip—whether for doctor's appointments, physical therapy, therapies, or even short outings—represents a significant physical, emotional, and logistical effort for the entire family.
Our biggest dream right now is to adapt our vehicle so that Vinicyus can be transported safely, comfortably, and with dignity. However, Social Security doesn't cover this type of adaptation, and the quote provided by TotalMobility (Maia) is €13,000, an impossible amount given our current situation.
For this reason, we humbly request your support—whether through a donation, sponsorship, or partial contribution—to make this essential adaptation possible. Any help, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in Vinicyus's quality of life and allow us to continue providing him with greater safety and dignity.
The adaptation includes a folding ramp, BraunAbility belts and folding seats, ensuring that Vinicyus can travel comfortably and according to his needs.
Vinicyus is monitored by APCC – the Coimbra Cerebral Palsy Association, an institution that monitors his development and is available to provide any further information about his condition and follow-up.
We are fully aware that there are many causes worthy of support, but we deeply believe that solidarity can change lives — and our son's is, without a doubt, one of them.
I am available to send you a detailed quote, medical reports, and all necessary documentation to support our situation.
I sincerely thank you for your attention, understanding, and empathy, and for taking the time to learn about the story of our Vinicyus.
With hope and gratitude,
Edillayne Moura
