The Sorriso Sobre Rodas team doesn't just want to drive in the desert, it also wants to drive for change, with the commitment to spread smiles among the inhabitants of Morocco.
The UniRaid event is a solidarity rally whose main objective is to deliver 40kg of solidarity material (ex: clothes, toys, hygiene products, school supplies and food) to the most disadvantaged villages in Morocco. This event is mainly aimed at university teams that face the Moroccan desert for nine days, reaching those who need it most, the trip being carried out in cars that need to have over 20 years old.
From a casual conversation came the idea of participating in the UniRaid expedition which, combined with the spirit of solidarity and empathy that both members have, made the Sorrisos Sobre Rodas project happen.
Join us on this journey of adventure, love and solidarity. This project is committed to transforming lives, but it is not possible for us to achieve this goal alone. We need your help to ensure that the people of Morocco receive the support they really need.

About the author
We are a team made up of two university students.
Inês Silva was born in Alcobaça, is 22 years old and is a student of the Masters in Educational Sciences at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at the University of Coimbra. Given her training area, she found in the UniRaid solidarity event the opportunity to do what moves her, to help others and, above all, those who need it most.
João Gonçalves is a native of Madeira Island, is 21 years old and is a student of the Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra. Being a young man passionate about cars and everything that has an engine, he found in this event the ideal opportunity to combine his passion for mechanics with his adventurous and supportive side.
As members of the Sorrisos Sobre Rodas project, we believe that what motivates us to participate in UniRaid in Morocco is not only the challenge that the event demands and the adventurous side that we have, as well as the solidarity to which we are increasingly sensitive. In this way, Sorriso Sobre Rodas is the combination of these two aspects, which are so present in us, in a single project.
Budget and due dates
UniRaid will take place from February 10th to 18th, 2024 and will consist of the following stages:
In order to carry out this project, we need to raise monetary support for the purpose of paying the registration fee for the UniRaid event, as well as for the acquisition of solidarity material (minimum of 40 kg) and equipment necessary to prepare the vehicle.
In this sense, we wish to raise around €2000.
As for the schedule, we intend for the campaign to run until September 30, 2023.
