Orff Orchestra in primary schools

We have been doing different activities always with our own material, which is not only scarce but also wears out. We need to buy the right instruments so that we can do a good job and motivate our goals.

Music education is a valued asset in several countries that have already implemented it in the compulsory curriculum for students from pre-school age, but in Portugal there is still a long way to go and with technicians available and schools willing to collaborate, students just wait the possibility that, with your support, we will be able to buy the musical instruments necessary for the development of an Orff orchestra that will be dynamic in schools, during school hours, allowing access to all children without the need for travel and any investment by the family.

On the 24th of June, Orquestra Orff had its first performance, with the participation of 21 children who had the opportunity to participate in this project completely free of charge. The instruments used were possible, but far from the ideal that we present below in the budget.

Although we have already managed to get some local support from small businesses and people in our community, and also from the City Council, we still have a long way to go as the instruments have a significant cost. That's why we decided to seek your help, from everyone who likes music or who understands its importance as a promoter of the full development of the human being.

With everyone's help, we will be able to implement the work of the arts in the education of Portuguese children and promote happier adults capable of overcoming the adversities of life, which is increasingly characterized by rapid changes to which we do not have to adapt and be creative and resilient.

About the author

coopMúsica - musical cooperative, CRL has existed since 2021 and promotes several actions that promote the development of music education from birth. We seek to boost the musical training of children and young people from different backgrounds, promoting equal opportunities, access to culture and music in particular. Teamwork, mutual help, learning to listen to others, having opinions and mutual respect.

The Orff Orchestra is a project supported by cultural patronage, but it cannot exist only with local donations and occasional support from the City Council, which is why we need your help in order to reach further and grow in the community, taking forward the benefits of the work of the artistic expressions among school-age children.

Budget and due dates

The material goods budget required for a starter set is € 8,432.20

We are currently using our own materials and have already managed to buy around 2000 euros worth of instruments with local help.
