Teach in Itoculo

Do you consider important to complete secondary education? Do you think all children should have the same opportunities? In Itoculo, children to attend the 11th and 12th grades have to walk 30 km.

This campaign aims to raise funds for the construction of two classrooms, for the 11th and 12th grades, and an Administrative Block at Samora Moisés Machel Secondary School in Itoculo (located in Monapo District and Nampula Province in Mozambique). Meet this need is important, because the Secondary School with complete education is 30km away. Where poverty is installed, the education of many young people is doomed to failure. Students wishing to continue their studies must walk to the nearest school; and those who are further away have to rent a hut (traditional houses made of earth and covered with straw) to stay there.

This campaign is carried out in close collaboration with local entities, which have helped to determine essential intervention focuses and the budget of the construction. About the author

Aurora Fernandes is a Master in Project Management. Since she was a child, she has always felt the need to help the most vulnerable, and that's why she grew up with the desire to help. The charity she practiced involved simple things like donating clothes or food, or making small monetary donations. She has always been concerned with values such as equality, equity and justice. And knowing that many children went through difficulties always broke her heart. Life brought her the means and taught her to reach more and more people. And, as she knows that education is one of the ways to evolve and make situations more egalitarian, she seeks today to sensitize more people so that support reaches those who need it most.

This campaign is carried out in close collaboration with Mr. Father Raúl Viana, responsible for the Catholic Mission of S. José de Itoculo, in the Diocese of Nacala, Province of Nampula. And, with the Samora Moisés Machel Secondary School of Itoculo, which provided the budget of the work and which will be the direct beneficiary of this campaign.

I won't go into more details because this campaign is not about me or my partners, it's about all the boys who will be able to benefit from the 11th and 12th grade classes in Itoculo. It's important that we love everyone. Today for them, tomorrow for us!

Budget and due dates

If the amount raised exceeds the budget, the amount will be channeled to equip the rooms with desks, whose cost per desk is budgeted at €100. The School will have a pressing need to place desks at least in the two rooms to be built, but the reality is that there are students who have classes with only one chair.
