Solidarity Calendar 2024

What it is: AOA 2024 Calendar Purpose: To promote interaction and unity among all participants (cancer patients) - 6 men and 6 women, each with a calendar month, if possible with different types of cancer;

The Oncological Association of the Algarve (AOA) is an IPSS - Private Institution of Social Solidarity, non-profit, of Public Utility and with health purposes, with 28 years of existence.
This Institution organizes cancer prevention actions, as well as events and campaigns to raise awareness and raise funds, in favor of this charitable cause, as a fundamental support for the implementation of its projects.

The 2023 action plan includes the creation of a “Solidarity Calendar 2024”. The idea is to promote conviviality and union among all cancer patients participants (if possible with various types of cancer), 5 men and 7 women, each one will have a photograph, in a calendar month.
The idea is to show that different people face their experience as cancer patients differently, sending a message of hope and inspiration to anyone who might be dealing with a similar situation.

The goal is to print 1000 calendar units. For this, we need the support of the community to have financial resources to fulfill our mission and to move forward with the organization of the calendar, with all the intervening parties.

By supporting this project, you will help AOA in the sustainability of the Institution that supports cancer patients and their families and in the implementation of its projects, namely: support for the upgrade of Breast Cancer Screening equipment in the Algarve (carried out by AOA, in partnership with to ARS-Algarve).

About the author

The Oncological Association of the Algarve, founded on July 1, 1994, is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity, non-profit, of public utility and with health purposes.

Achievements:
breast cancer screening
- Carried out in partnership with ARS Algarve;
- For women aged between 50 and 69, registered at the Health Center in the area of residence;
- 3D mammography (better diagnosis and less radiation).

Radioncology Clinic of the Algarve
- 1st Radioncology Unit south of the Tagus (inaugurated in 2006);
- Updated technology (2017) that allows for shorter treatments and with greater preservation of healthy tissues.

Other services:
- Psycho-oncology consultations;
- Stomatherapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy consultations;
- Hair prostheses, breast prostheses, bras and ergonomic bathing suits at cost price;
- Skin care, make-up, hair and teaching self-care techniques;
- Screening for skin lesions and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease);
- Information, awareness and clarification sessions on oncology, health and well-being.

Future projects:
Casa Flor das Dunas
- Temporary accommodation for patients who need radiotherapy treatment in Faro, Algarve.
