The aim is to create a tourist guide with routes for cycling in mountain areas, high mountains and deep valleys in mainland Portugal. And to carry out such an undertaking, an electric bicycle is, of course, necessary.
Bicycles with electric assistance, aka e-bikes , are here to stay. The National Cycle Touring Network, aware of this phenomenon, decided to carry out a new major undertaking: to create a tourist road book with the most beautiful tours in mountain areas, high mountains and deep valleys in the country, to be covered with the aid of the motor of an electric bike, especially on the steepest climbs. From Gerês National Park to the valleys that flank the Guadiana River, there are many routes that are intended to be identified, using GPS, for a few days riding on an e-bike.
However, to identify these routes naturally it is necessary... an electric bike !!!
This campaign is intended to raise funds to purchase an electric bike and finance the creation of the Road Book with "Portugal's Best E-Bike Tours".
All tours will be defined with departure and arrival, whenever possible, in a town or city with a train station, in order to facilitate travel to and from the tour locations using CP-Comboios de Portugal trains.
About the author
Born in 1973 in a small village in Beira Alta Province, Paulo Guerra dos Santos has lived in Lisbon since his first year of age.
Graduated in Civil Engineering at ISEL , he specialized in Projects for Road and Transportation . Since 1995 he
carries out projects, with strong recourse to computer-assisted design and engineering technologies, in the areas of Topography and Road Design .
He also has a second training area, Industrial Robotics , where he worked and provided training for most of the 1990s and early 2000s.

This knowledge, combined with the experience and passion for cycling trips, has been used to identify the National Cycle Touring Network and take it to other travelers in the form of a road book with detailed maps and GPS tracks to
be used as a travel guide. In 2021, the Road Book already has 137 sections and maps, totaling 5865 km of identified routes.
The author develops, solo, the entire project of the National Cycle Touring Network .
