Crowdbike - Mobility Platform

Crowdbike is a sharing bycicle network.

Recents studies prove that the number of people using a bicycle to get to their daily destinations is increasing all over the country. Investing in a shared bicyle network can be very costly for municipalities and for users the fees applied to rent a bicycle can be a problem. People that are more interested choose to get their preferred models that end up using a lot of space in their homes.

Crowdbike is a mobile application that allows users to share the rental of bicycles. Every bicycle that is add to the network will be equipped with an intelligent padlock and a security system develop by our team.

In order to be able to rent his bicycle the user has to download the app and purchase our padlock. With an initial investment of 50 euros and a percentage to define as your own, the user is able to recover this initial cost overtime as long as the bicycle stays in the network. Thanks to the security system, owners are able to check their bicycle's localization and circulation. Crowdbike give the options to its users to get an insurance that covers possible theft and damages. 

Any citizen can register on  Crodwbike and any user can easily rent the nearest bicycle. Once the rental fee applied by the owner is paid the padlock is unlock through the app.

This iniciative promotes not only the use of ecological and nonpolluting transportation, but also promotes sport and turism.

Vanessa Silva - Graduated in Equipment Design and specialized in Product at Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. She is responsible for the design of the padlock and the service associated with this project.

Samuel Balula - Engineer at the Superior Technical Institute of Lisbon, where he studied Physics engineering.

André Manso -  Engineer at the Superior Technical Institute of Lisbon. Actually studying a Master in Biomedics engineering

André and Samuel are responsible for the software and hardware development.

Budget and due dates

During this campaign, held under the frame of BET 24, we are going to improve the design of the web page as well as the Crowdbike app.

With your support we will be able to finish the development of the platform and the design of the intelligent padlock, produce several models and test them in the market.
