Dad's Clothes is a Portuguese short film, a Final Project for the Bachelors Degree in Cinema and Audiovisual from Esmad, that portrays themes of grief, nostalgia, and introspection.
On the day of her father's death, Fernanda needs to go to her parents' house to choose the clothes he will be buried in. This is the event that triggers the story of A Roupa do Pai (Father's Clothes), an academic short film from the School of Media Arts and Design of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, one of the films selected as a final project for the Bachelor's degree in Cinema and Audiovisual.
"Father's Clothes" is one of the projects chosen as the final project for the Bachelor's Degree in Cinema and Audiovisual Arts at the School of Media Arts and Design, Polytechnic Institute of Porto. It's a short fiction film that proposes a reflection on grief through the eyes of a daughter who, having just lost her father, needs to return home to choose the clothes he will be buried in.
The film's theme stemmed from the director, Eduardo Barroso's, need to address death, absence, and memory, and how all these issues are intrinsically related and emerge powerfully during times of grief, perhaps seeking to soothe a seemingly endless pain. Although born from a personal need, this is a universal theme that deserves reflection, a subjective perspective, but one that seeks to engage with the collective, taking advantage of the power of cinematic language to reach everyone.
Currently, this project is in the early stages of pre-production. We have a dedicated team working to bring this film to the big screen. However, to move forward and make it a reality, financial support is essential, and that's why we're counting on your help. Participate in our campaign with any amount you can. In addition, help us by following and sharing this campaign and our social media channels.
Supporting this project is not just supporting an academic project, which in itself would already be of enormous value, but it is also supporting the development of our country's culture.
