This campaign intends to make it possible to bring our film project "Erros Meus, Má Fortuna, Amor Ardente" to life.

This film, mostly shot at Beira Interior (north of Portugal), already counts with some partners that will provide solutions for some logistic matters. "Erros Meus, Má Fortuna, Amor Ardente" will be the first film of the most recent film commission in Portugal, Beira Interior Film Commission. The amount we are asking for will mostly cover food and transportation costs.

With 16 members in our team (cast and crew), this project aims to trigger the indie film production in Portugal, to contribute in leading the production industry to move from the urban centers to other parts of the country, to promote and explore, among cast and crew, a constructive sharing of European and North-American production techniques used by Tiago Durão and Sofia Mirpuri in their most recent film "Tales From The Rabbit Hole – A Curious Kitsch Novel" (a luso-american indie film premiered in New York on April 2019).

"Erros Meus, Má Fortuna, Amor Ardente" features professional actors with distinct career paths in theatre, film, and television. It is a co-production with the arts society ST Arte, founded by Afonso Fontão, known for their essential contribution to the decentralization of Portuguese Cinema, through several initiatives, such as the Castelo Branco 48h Film Project.

About the film

"Erros Meus, Má Fortuna, Amor Ardente" is an indie feature film that results from a combination and adaptation of theatrical texts by Frederico Garcia Lorca's trilogy, songs from the Popular Songbook, and songs from the German Lied.

Strongly influenced by Manoel de Oliveira's "Vale Abrãao" and Andrei Tarkovsky's filmography, this feature film brings us a story from a small, rural village in the interior of Portugal where, by reason of a funeral, people from all parts of the region are arriving. Maria is a young woman from that village, unsatisfied with her marriage with João, that has never given her a child, her biggest desire. By cause of the funeral, Pedro arrives, and his arrival and Maria's emancipated behavior generate distrust from the other villagers. Maria, a serious, beautiful and virtuous woman, loved by every man in the village and hated by all the women, awakes in João the weakness of jealousy, and in Pedro the weakness of an old love.

About the author

Director Tiago Durão and actress and producer Sofia Mirpuri met in New York in 2016. Shortly after, they decided to produce a short-film. The experience became a "study" for the feature film they would start producing months later, by the end of 2017 - "Tales from the Rabbit Hole - A Curious Kitsch Novel". Featuring more than 30 actors, the film was shot for more than a year mostly in New York, but also in Portugal. The premiere, on April 2019, was widely reported by the Portuguese press, and the film has already won international awards such as "Best Feature Film" and "Best Cinematography" in Italy, and third place in the competition for "Best Foreign Film" in Calcuta, India.

Sofia and Tiago are now pre-producing their third film project together (this time entirely shot in Portugal), and for which they need your help!

TIAGO DURÃO
Tiago Durão is a Portuguese-born award-winning director and cinematographer. He studied acting in Portugal and had his debut as a film director in 2012 in his first feature film. Since then, Tiago has been working in the film industry performing mostly as director and cinematographer. Sofia Mirpuri is a portuguese-born actress and award-winning producer. A graduate of the Atlantic Theater Company’s Professional Conservatory, in New York, she also owns a bachelor degree in Media and Communications from Catolica Lisbon School. AFONSO FONTÃO

Born in Fundão, Afonso has studied in Faculdade de Belas Artes in Lisbon. Since then, he is dedicated to artistic projects in video and multimedia. In 2009, Afonso started his studies in Communicational Design and Audiovisual Production (in Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas de Castelo Branco). Founder of STAR and ST Arte, where he makes indie film projects and produces film festivals. Since 2014, Afonso is City Producer in the 48 Hour Film Project and has been jury in festival Planos de Tomar and Gardunha Fest, in Fundão.  http://starte.pt
