An innovative project that combines electronic music with organic, cinema and dance. A sound and visual journey through the new paths of the post-pandemic imagination.
The concept is simple, to tell musically and visually the story of a composer and music producer and her artistic struggle and achievement. Through music, Klin Klop (Inês Meira) invites musicians and instrumentalists already consecrated in the national environment João Lima, Pedro Leal, Gonçalo Palmas and Miguel Pinto to consolidate the musical journey. In the visual narrative, Inês invites Francisca Siza to narrate the story of an artist's search for his project, giving life and image to a musical journey, reinterpreting it to the cinematographic imaginary. This project also integrates other artistic disciplines such as dance, exposing the union between body movement as a physical expression of music, muralism, and its contribution to urban aesthetic wealth, and digital art, thus integrating different artistic areas that mix the tradition and contemporary Portuguese culture, a metaphor for the musical root of this project, which fuses organic music with electronics.
The Alt-Shift project arises from the urgency to create dynamism and cultural movement, shared by several Portuguese artists, whose path has crossed many times over the past few years, which has fostered this symbiosis of artistic genres giving wings to this interdisciplinary project. In view of the pandemic situation of the last year, most cultural areas saw their projects stopped or canceled, creating an unprecedented cultural stagnation. As a way of combating both professional and creative paralysis, this group adapted, outlining and projecting a concept of audiovisual spectacle, adapted to the molds of a new world of social distance: a concert film, available on any digital device.
The concert, of one hour and twenty minutes, represents a soundtrack that formalizes a hybrid union between organic and digital instruments. This show contains eleven original songs and is concerned with the fusion of genres from classical music to mysterious ethnic music, from modern jazz to the most rhythmic funk and from pop to the most danceable rock. This whole aesthetic is reinforced through an electronic sound. In addition, after several interviews with the musicians, the concert film also includes five narrated moments where it tells, either literally or metaphorically, the search for the meaning of music and art for each member. These are the moments that were transformed into a script, to later be staged and filmed, of a studied visual and aesthetic nature, where a visual search for the oneiric will take place.
This show is already adapted to the new social circumstances, being destined to be transmitted via online (streaming). The public will be able to access the concert through the purchase of a ticket, on a digital platform, where an active link will be available for 24 hours.
For this project to materialize, we need funding to complete it. We ask everyone who is interested in the continuous evolution of art and culture, to help us finish this dream. All members of this project worked on a voluntary basis, this fundraising is not intended to pay for the work of its employees, but rather to pay for the equipment needed for the remaining filming and to help publicize the project. In one of the most challenging moments in world culture, we trust the Portuguese patrons to give light to a show that will fill their hearts.
