The documentary Des-Abrigo, questions the theme of animal welfare in Portugal. Our main core is ARA - Animal Rescue Algarve, due to the controversial situation in which your shelter is.

This campaign aims to raise funds to support the final project of the Director, Cinema and TV course, from ETIC_Algarve.
In order to achieve this project, we need your support and trust. The documentary is essentially motivated by our passion and affection for animal welfare, as well as that of the people involved in it. The goal is to get a documentary that can reach the largest number of people.
With this documentary, we intend to launch the debate on animal welfare, portraying the current situation in Portugal, especially with regard to abandonment and ill-treatment.
Held in the Algarve, our main focus is ARA - Animal Rescue Algarve, which was recently the subject of a notification by the Municipality of Loulé, with the intention of demolishing its shelter. This led to a public petition in his defense, and of the animals he welcomes.
British businessman Sid Richardson decided to proceed with the construction of this shelter, after having run into the required bureaucracy, in an attempt to legally build a space. This poses and reveals a huge issue, which is one of the biggest problems in Portugal: the lack of spaces to welcome street animals.
The purpose of this documentary is to report what happened, albeit with a special peculiarity, linking the story of a dog, Kenya. There will be several individuals involved in the documentary, so that we can address issues such as the shelter of abandoned animals, legislation in force or defense and their rights.

About the author

This documentary is part of the ETIC_Algarve Direction, Cinema and TV course, and will be the final course project.
It has a technical team of eleven students.

The pioneering spirit of ETIC, based on “knowing how to do by practicing”, led to the opening of the doors of this prestigious school in the south of the country, in the city of Portimão, in response to an already great demand for quality training in the areas of creative industries in this region.

After 4 years of a rewarding experience in the Barlaventine city, the requests from the student community led ETIC_Algarve - School of Technologies Innovation and Creation of the Algarve to reposition itself geographically to a more central area - in the Municipal Market of the city of Faro -, giving a more effective response to your audience in terms of space, accessibility and proximity.

ETIC thus reinforces its position in the south of Portugal as a bet of excellence in training aimed at the creative industry, in an approach of bringing trainees to the real job market, covering the areas of Communication, Design, Photography, Sound and Music , Video and Interactive Media.

The budget for this project is 835, 00 €, and the amount mentioned will be for travel, meals, prints for the technical and artistic team, wardrobe and art of the project and promotion of the documentary.

We intend to start shooting in June, but due to the Covid-19 outbreak, and the state of emergency in which we find ourselves, we are conditioned and without a concrete date for carrying it out.
