I am a history tutor and I am looking for support to acquire updated textbooks, so that I can continue to help students with quality resources. Any contribution makes a difference.
Hello everyone,
My name is Pedro António, I am 29 years old and I have a degree in History with a specialization in European Studies. I suffer from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), with a spectrum of Impulse Phobia.
Currently, I am undergoing psychological and psychiatric treatment, as well as pharmacological treatment appropriate to my clinical condition. Despite the difficulties this pathology presents in my daily life and professional life, I remain deeply committed to continuing to be active in the area that I am most passionate about: History.
I am a tutor in the subjects of Environmental Studies, History and Geography of Portugal, History A, History B, and History of Culture and the Arts.
Currently, I am attending a Skills Recovery and Updating Program following Illness and Accidents, designed for people who, due to health limitations, require professional reintegration adapted to their clinical reality. The goal of this program is to enable future integration into a work environment compatible with my condition, ideally in institutions related to History and Culture, such as museums, libraries, or archives.
Teaching history is much more than an activity for me—it's a true calling. Transmitting knowledge and sparking others' interest in the past is something that deeply fulfills me.
That is precisely why I am here to ask for the community's support.
I would like to raise funds to purchase updated textbooks and activity books, from primary school to secondary school, so that I can continue to provide quality tutoring with adequate resources.
The materials I currently have are several years old and outdated compared to the most recent programs and methodologies. At the moment, due to the rules of the training I am attending, I cannot work as a freelancer. However, I continue to provide free, pro bono tutoring on weekends to students who need support.
According to the figures provided by Porto Editora and Raiz Editora, the total cost of the textbooks and their respective activity books amounts to 797.00 euros, plus PPL's commissions of 81.00 euros, bringing the total target of this fundraising campaign to 878.00 euros.
I am fully aware that this is a significant amount, but I believe that small contributions can make a big difference. If 878 people contribute just 1 euro, I will be able to update my teaching materials and continue to offer the best possible support to my students — because they deserve the best.
To everyone who has read this far, my sincere thanks for your attention, empathy, and any support or sharing of this post.
Due to issues related to ppl.pt's automatic rules regarding the sharing of banking data, I ask anyone wishing to contribute to send me their support through the respective website.
I sincerely appreciate all the attention, help, and sharing.
Any contribution, regardless of the amount, will make a huge difference in my journey and in the continuation of this teaching project.
If this goal is achieved, I will be delighted to share with you the arrival of the textbooks and activity books, showing the concrete result of your help and the beginning of this new stage in my journey as a tutor.
This will be my way of expressing my gratitude, with complete transparency, for all the trust and support I have received.
With my best regards,
Pedro António
