There are names that are written in golden letters in the history of Madeira, but whose roots are very deep in our land. Engineer Ornelas Camacho was the first President of the Regional Government of Madeira, the man who accepted the challenge of laying the foundations for our Autonomy.
But first and foremost, the Engineer was our neighbor . A distinguished resident of São João , in São Pedro, he lived on these streets and it was from here that he departed to serve the region.
The Monument: A Collective Effort
The Parish Council of São Pedro believes that history should not only live in books, but also in our streets. Therefore, we want to erect a bust at the São João roundabout , immortalizing the figure of Engineer Ornelas Camacho in the place he called "home".
This will not be an imposed monument. We want it to be a monument of the people , erected by all those who recognize its contribution to the progress of Madeira and to the prestige of our parish.

Honorary Plaque: All donors (according to the chosen tier) will have their names engraved on a memorial plaque that will be installed near the monument, at the São João Roundabout. In addition, the Parish Council will promote all donors on its website and social media, highlighting everyone who made the bust of Engineer Ornelas Camacho possible.

Total Transparency: Every penny raised will be applied to the artistic creation, casting, and installation of the bust.

"GOLD" : Donation between €50 and €74
Reward : Engraving of the donor's name on a plaque to be placed next to the São João roundabout.
"PLATINUM" : Donation of €75 or more
Reward: Engraving of the donor's name on a plaque to be placed next to the São João roundabout.
The difference in reward between each type of donation lies in the size of the lettering and the donor's prominence, which will increase from "bronze" to "platinum". In addition to the plaque, the Parish Council will promote all donors of the various types on its website and social media with a special thank you.
"CORPORATE" : Donation of €150 or more (Companies and Institutions)
Reward: Engraving of the company/entity logo on a plaque to be placed next to the São João roundabout. -
