Ophelia

The death of a child is an impactful event and the way we deal with grief defines us. This film tells us about Ophelia's search for redemption, who suffers from the guilt of failing her son's funeral.

Synopsis:

After her son's death, Ophelia's world comes crashing down. She gave up her dream career in search of redemption, and became a mourner. Now, emotionally numb, she wanders around and cries at other people's funerals. The story shows us how Ophelia ends up dealing with this feeling of guilt.

WHAT MAKES OUR PROJECT SPECIAL?

As death and mourning are a universal theme, we believe that anyone can relate to this short film. In addition to the loss of someone, it is common to sometimes feel guilt. We thought maybe if we had done something, if we'd spent more time with someone, that things could have been different.

It is in this perspective that we place the film. We seek to address the guilt of an absent mother after the death of her son.

It's the choices and events that define the course of life The death of a child is a shocking event and the way we deal with grief defines us. This drama seeks to reach viewers' hearts through Ophelia's journey of redemption.

In a cultural sense, we present an uncommon profession: that of a mourner. Ophelia, feeling guilty, uses this profession to represent her feelings. The costume that Ophelia wears is a traditional Romanian costume. It was this costume and Romanian traditions that inspired the director (with relatives of Romanian origin) to create this narrative.

Our recording week runs from March 6-13, 2023. This is followed by a period for post-production (editing and color grading) until the end of April.
