"Odysseus' blind ambition leads him to the present, where he must confront the mistakes of his past."

OIKOS is a fiction short film that seeks to make a loose adaptation of Homer's "Odyssey," exploring the cyclical nature of human history and questioning the archetype of the classical hero.

When Odysseus ignores the ominous premonitions of his wife, Penelope, grave consequences befall the hero. His return to Ithaca is interrupted by his arrogance. He is shipwrecked and awakens in an unknown place.

About the author

"Tell me, Muse, of the versatile man who wandered so much,
after Troy destroyed the sacred citadel.
He saw the cities of many men and knew their minds;
And many were the sorrows he suffered in his heart at sea.
to save the lives and ensure the return of their comrades.
But he couldn't even save his companions, even though he wanted to.”

The short film OIKOS is an academic project from the School of Media Arts and Design of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, and is one of the final projects selected for the Bachelor's Degree in Cinema and Audiovisual - Film Branch.

The team is composed of current and former students of ESMAD/IPP, as well as other students and professionals in the field of Cinema and Audiovisual.
