Help NIAT - the Environmental and Territorial Intervention Center - to formalize itself as an association and continue its project of monitoring macro-litter and microplastics on the Portuguese coast.
What we are
We are NIAT - Environmental Protection Group, a civic group founded in 2020 by two people passionate about protecting the environment and the territory. Throughout these years we have worked on the ground with limited resources, but with great determination.
Today we are official partners of the United Nations GPML (Global Partnership on Marine Litter) and we are developing a project to monitor macro-litter and microplastics that extends from Ponta dos Corvos Beach (Seixal) to Tróia, passing through the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve and the Arrábida Natural Park. In September, we carried out our first field action in Ponta dos Corvos.
Because we need help.
Until now we have always operated as an informal group. But in order to grow, access European and national funding, and establish formal partnerships with city councils and other entities, we need to legally constitute ourselves as an association.
It's a simple step, but it has a cost (registration, statutes, founding charter, fees) which, with only two people supporting the project so far, is a real obstacle at the moment.
What will your support be used for?
Costs of setting up the association (registration, statutes, notary fees)
Small materials for the September monitoring activity at Ponta dos Corvos.
Strengthening basic field equipment (data collection and recording)
Goal: €800
Because it's worth supporting.
Becoming an association is not the end; it's the beginning of everything that comes next: applications for national and European environmental funds, new institutional partnerships, and the continuation of a citizen science project that will help protect the Portuguese coast between Seixal and Tróia.
Every euro counts, and every supporter becomes part of this story.
