What happened ?

In recent months, Portugal has been swept by storms that have left visible scars on our territory. Storm Kristin was just one of many. Strong winds and heavy rain damaged historic buildings, cultural spaces, forests, and places that hold the memory of who we are.
But what the storm cannot destroy are the roots. And it is from them that we want to rebuild.

The concert
After the Storm brings together four extraordinary artists at the National Palace of Mafra — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — representing the best of Portuguese and international music:

An evening that blends fado, jazz, classical music, and Portuguese song — four voices and instruments for a single gesture of solidarity.
The night unfolds in three stages:
The Storm — a song that acknowledges the power of nature and the fragility of what we build.
Silence — a moment of collective reflection on loss, memory, and the value of what we preserve.
Reconstruction — a vibrant celebration of resilience. At the end of this event, there will be an invitation for voluntary donations — a symbolic and collective gesture from those present.
Free entry. Because solidarity has no price tag.

Where does the money go?

This campaign does not fund the production of the concert — that responsibility lies with the co-organizers and institutional partners.

The funds raised have an external and verifiable purpose:
Direct support to affected communities — in partnership with leading humanitarian organizations, funds reach the families and communities that suffered the most losses due to the storms.

Cultural resilience projects — a portion of the funds will be allocated to a call for projects open to associations, artists, and local communities that want to use music and culture as tools for reconstruction.

Because resilience isn't just about repairing walls — it's about rekindling what unites us.
The institutional partners who will receive the funds will be announced before the official launch of the campaign.

The concert takes place on April 11th. But the reconstruction begins today.

This concert is supported by Europa Nostra, the European Heritage Hub, the National Cultural Centre, Antena 2 and the Mafra City Council — a network of institutions that believes culture is the first line of reconstruction.

About the author

The concert is co-organized by the Mafra City Council and the European Music Centre (CEM), with the support of Europa Nostra, European Heritage Hub, the National Culture Centre and Antena 2.

CEM believes that music is a common good — a resource for individual and collective transformation. "After the Storm" was born from this conviction: that in times of crisis, culture is not a luxury, it is a necessity. And music has the power to unite us to act in favor of meaningful causes.

Budget and due dates

This campaign does not fund the production of the concert — that responsibility lies with the co-organizers and institutional partners.

The €30,000 raised has an external and verifiable purpose:
50% — Direct support to affected communities (€15,000)
In partnership with leading humanitarian organizations, the funds reach the families and communities that suffered the most losses due to the storms directly.
37% — Cultural resilience projects (€11,000)
A call for projects open to associations, artists, and local communities who want to use music and culture as tools for reconstruction. Because resilience isn't just about repairing walls—it's about rekindling what unites us.
4% — Operational costs and impact report (€1,240)
Transparent documentation of how every euro was used, published after the campaign ended.
9% — PPL platform fee (€2,760)
