The freedom of 1 million LGBTQI+ people in Portugal is at risk due to rising hate and legal setbacks. On June 20th, Faro will march again for the right to exist, to love, and to be!
All people deserve to exist without fear, free and happy!
However, did you know that there are around 1 million people in Portugal who cannot be identified as such? This is because they identify as LGBTQI+: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or intersex.
Their very existence is attacked every day. They are not free to be who they are, they are not free to love who they love.
More recently, the rights of LGBTQI+ people have been under repeated attack, and Portuguese law is about to regress in a way never seen before.
Online hate speech, which has grown by more than 300% in recent years in Portugal, is reflected in everyday life.
Therefore, on Saturday, June 20th, we will once again come out of the closet, dust off the flags, and march through the city of Faro.
In 2023, TransParente launched a fundraising campaign and managed to donate €750 towards the 4th edition of MOA, all thanks to you!
Now, we ask for your support to fund the 6th edition of MOA - Algarve LGBTQI+ Pride March, which will take place on June 20th.
Join us in this march of love and diversity.
Fighting for the continuation of our existence.
In this 2026 edition, we have the support of the Faro City Council, SRAF (Os Artistas), the Recreational and Cultural Association of Musicians, and the MOÇES Association.
We also have several partnerships with companies such as Contextos, Danceclub Prestige, Bar LOFT!, Artists and Fleas, Sejoga.Astronauta, and sponsorship from Idealista, Conseg Seguros, Affirmative Q, and Werk Room.
