Scholarship for Higher Education - Humanitarian Mission

The Humanitarian Mission Higher Education Scholarship (BEESMH) aims to support the education of some disadvantaged girls in Mozambique. We want to secure their future and keep them away from early marriages and unwanted pregnancies.

We created BEESMH to support the studies of some underprivileged girls from northern Mozambique. We want to support four girls who lack financial resources and family support: Deolinda, who lives in the Mocuba district, Zambézia province, is pursuing a degree in Animal Science and Technology; Atija, who lives in the Erati district, wants to pursue a degree in Nursing; Feliciana, who lives in the Monapo district, wants to pursue a degree in Education; and Argenilde, who lives in the Monapo district, wants to pursue a degree in Anthropology, all from Nampula province.

In their area of residence there is no higher education, and the girls do not have the financial means to travel to Maputo (southern Mozambique) to attend university. To sponsor the four girls, we need €12,000.00, and we are developing various activities to raise the necessary amount. With this fundraising campaign, BEESMH aims to raise €3,000.00, enough to cover the expenses of one girl, including tuition, stay at the Mary Wilson Home, and school and personal expenses.

Our goal is to promote these girls' education, to improve their living conditions. We appeal to your generosity so that together we can realize this dream.

About the author

Sister Daniela, a nun from the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Victories in Madeira, was assigned as a missionary to Mozambique.

Her mission began at the Maria Mãe de África Home in Carapira, Nampula. There, she carried out several works to improve the living conditions of the 44 girls who were in the home. The girls stay at the home so they can study, as there are no schools in their place of residence or the area is at war, due to its proximity to Cabo Delgado.

Currently, she is a missionary at the Mary Wilson Home in Maputo, which houses female university students from all over the country. The home has capacity for 100 residents. Only girls with the financial means can continue their studies.

This campaign aims to broaden educational opportunities for girls who have nothing.

Budget and due dates

The estimated cost to cover the expenses of a girl at university in Maputo is €3,000.00 (tuition fees/accommodation/food/school expenses), representing a monthly expense of €250.00.

The cost of BEESMH is the responsibility of Sister Daniela, who will provide the girl with the necessary amount monthly to cover these expenses.

Since March 2026, we have been supporting a girl in paying for her daycare with a total annual cost of €1,184. This is our estimated amount to help a girl pay for daycare.

For tuition fees, we estimate €1,600.00, taking into account the fees charged at universities in Maputo. If the girl receives a scholarship to cover the tuition fees, this amount will be used to help another scholarship recipient (scholarships are not cumulative).

For personal and school expenses, we estimate €211.00.

We must bear in mind that the fundraising is done in euros, but the currency of Mozambique is the metical, which has a much lower exchange rate (1€ is approximately 50 meticais).
