GerAção Association was created with the purpose of building connections, promoting inclusion, and generating a positive impact within the community — children, young people, adults, and older people — through intergenerational unity and the promotion of active ageing.
“Caring is Generating Action”
GerAção Association was born from the desire to create a more united, active, and supportive community. We are a social and community intervention project that promotes social, cultural, and educational development through socio-educational activities, community participation, and intergenerational relationships.
In a region marked by an ageing population and social isolation, we aim to create human, inclusive, and community-focused responses for children, young people, adults, and older people.
Our mission is to:
- Combat social isolation among older people;
- Promote active ageing;
- Create educational and recreational activities for children and young people;
- Encourage interaction between generations;
- Value the resources, traditions, and culture of the local community.
Through this campaign, we hope to gather support to continue transforming ideas into concrete actions. The funds raised will allow us to:
- Create and improve the future headquarters of the Association;
- Develop free activities for the community;
- Organise holiday programmes and holiday camps;
- Implement home-based social and recreational support services;
- Acquire materials and resources needed for activities;
- Promote community and intergenerational events.
We believe that caring goes far beyond helping: caring means building connections, combating loneliness, encouraging participation, and bringing life to the community.
