What is Central Comics-Con:

After almost 12 years of existence, the Central Comics website will have its first convention with its own name, on 13 and 14 July at Hard Club (Porto-Portugal). There are several reasons for all fans of comics, animation, movies, TV and games to be satisfied, because this festival will have several competitions, activities and shows.

Being an event organized by those who have held festivals like "Anigamix", "Portusaki", among others, Central Comics-Con promises to be the most daring of all, with a program full with activities for both fans of oriental culture, as Western.

The program will be composed of the 2nd Round Portuguese EuroCosplay Contest + Best Cosplay Group Contest; Illustration, Comics, Dance, pop quizes, Trading Card Games and Video Games, Workshops, Panels, Exhibitions, food and merchandise areas.

Furthermore, the convention will host the XI Central Comics Awards!

What do we want?

This event is organized without any public support or private partners, and virtually managed at no cost, so, is complicated to have enough money to bring to the public big foreign artist of comic books. Since the closure of "Salão Internacional de BD do Porto", in 2001, our city only once had the privilege of receiving big names of comic books in a con called MAB.
If you want to see and talk to great Marvel and DC names, please support our project and help us.

Costs?

After contacts with travel agencies, the cost to bring one of the authors we are contact - including travel, accommodation and food - will be around € 500. Our goal is to bring two known artists, with works published by DC, Marvel and other European and American publishers, in short, our target is 1000€.

Higher Fundraising?

If we gather more than 1000€, this will be applied to invite more artists (foreign or domestic) from comic book or from other areas, so as to enhance the fan experience at the event.

Lower Fundraising?

If the campaign comes to an end and the final value is not the request, you will be refunded the full amount of your help.

About the author

I am co-founder of the portal Centralcomics.com (the oldest site of comics in Portugal, since August 2001). I'm also a writer, but most of the time I'm a Letterer for various portuguese comicbook companies (such as Devir, Levoir, Gradiva, Polvo, among others), but I had also worked to other countries on 3 different continents: Brazil, Spain, Croatia, Denmark, Poland and Cape Verde.

In recent years I have been dedicated to organizing events dedicated to pop culture. My events are always made without any financial support, public or private (despite attempts to counteract this).
 
The Central Comics-Con is so far the most ambitious project of its kind.

Budget and due dates

Como expliquei acima, preciso do apoio porque gostava de ter um evento com qualidade mas não tenho capacidade financeira para o fazer. Cada autor teria de gerar cerca de 100 novos visitantes para poder pagar a despesa e vejo isso como uma meta quase impossível, principalmente na cidade do Porto, onde o mercado é muito pequeno que em Lisboa. Era uma GRANDE mais valia para o evento onde eu benificiaria com status e nome para em futuros eventos conseguir outros tipos de apoios, mas também e principalmente para os visitantes que passado 12 anos, iriam ter de novo autores de renome num evento na Invicta. A meta seria então os 100 euros em 45 ou 60 dias. O evento é só a 13 e 14 de Julho mas preciso de garantias com antecedência para falar com os convidados e programar tudo atenpadamente como marcação de viagens, hoteis, etc.
