O Abafador - short film

We need your help to produce our final master's project. A short film about a “smotherer” who decides to quit his job, but is forced to commit a new crime.

To conclude our Master’s degree in Audiovisual Communication at the School of Media, Arts and Design, we will produce a fiction short film. To achieve this goal, we need money to pay for accommodation, food, and various materials we need to make the film. So we need all the help we can get! FILM SYNOPSIS 

Vicente is an “abafador”, a smotherer who travels around with the mission of ending the suffering of those who are terminally ill and dying. Tired of living like a criminal, he does one last service but is caught red-handed by a woman. Olívia tries to hire Vicente to put an end to her father’s suffering who is terminally ill, but Vicente refuses. Desperate, she threatens to report him.

DIRECTOR'S BIOGRAPHY

Silvana Torricella is the director and screenwriter of the short film "O Abafador". She was born in Porto and graduated in Cinema and Audiovisuals from Oporto School of Arts (ESAP). “Abafador” is the final project for her Master's degree in Audiovisual Communication at School of Media, Arts and Design.

Budget and due dates

Producing a film is not as easy as it may seem. Even though this is a short film, there are many costs associated with it. Most of the money will be spent in food and lodging for the crew during the 6 days of shooting.

Orçamento

The shooting of the short film is scheduled for March 27th to April 2nd, in Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal. After that we will move on to the post-production of the film and hope to premiere it in film festivals starting in September of this year.
