“Vésperas de Abril” is a historical drama that takes place in the last days of the “Estado Novo” in Portugal. We aim to represent the April revolution in the light of a family conflict.
Synopsis
Manoel, who is part of a young revolutionary group, plans a coup against the regime. Fernando, leads the Pide investigation against this group. They cross paths at home, father and son. In the end, Fernando will discover the group's hideout.
Manoel
Manoel is a young man of 21 years, who had a protected childhood and without many problems due to his father working for the state, but when he sees how society suffers at the hands of the same state that benefits a certain group and oppresses the rest, he decides fight to change that.
Fernando
Fernando is a DGS inspector responsible for dealing with anti-regime groups of which Manoel is a member. Fernando in public is an example of the perfect citizen for the state, but in reality he has little affection for the state the only thing that interests him to maintain the safety and well-being of his family.
We started the project when the pandemic first arrived in Portugal, and we have been trying hard to make it a reality with our own means, but even with our best efforts we have reached a point where it is impossible to complete this project without help from more people. It is with this in mind that we created this campaign to raise funds.
About the author
The “Vésperas de Abril” team consists of students from the 2nd year of the degree in Cinema, Video and Multimedia Communication at the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies.
We are a group of students who strive daily to do the best job possible and make this project happen.
Since February, we have been developing the project and we strongly believe in its potential.
What led us to make a project with this theme was the uncertainty that some may still have about what happened, telling about the perspective of a family and its conflicts, something that is timeless.
