To begin with, thank you for you curiosity about this campaign. This campaign’s objetive is to help chronospaper – restoration of books and bookbinding bindery, to acquire a Foil Stamping Machine.

chronospaper was created in 2011 in the city of Coimbra, Portugal.
We provide bookbinding, finishing, conservation and restoration of graphic documents (for examples, books, maps or engraving) services.
At chronospaper, we also provide courses and/or workshops about bookbinding, finishing, conservation and restoration, as well as paper marbling.
We also provide consulting services for public and/or private institutions, as well as heritage conservation and restoration companies.
Lastly, at chronospaper, we also sell pieces of decoration and stationery items that are characterized by the fusion of traditional binding techniques with innovation, quality and know-how.
The Tools and Equipment of chronospaper
Currently, chronospaper presents a considerable range of tools and equipment related to the areas of bookbinding, finishing, conservation and restoration of graphic documents.
In the category of tools, it is possible to highlight our small but valuable collection of finishing brass tools, from which some are from the 17th century and others were acquired from old bookbinders.
In the category of equipment, we highlight our presses, dating from the 18th and 20th century and originating from various countries (Portugal, France and England).
The chronospaper also has a shear, built in the 20th century by the company Grafolito do Norte, as well as a German guillotine.
Foil Stamping Machine
According to the Dictionary of the Book (from the authors Maria Isabel Faria and Maria da Graça Pericão), the Foil Stamping Machine can be defined as a “tool in the form of a press with two horizontal plates used by bookbinders to apply hot brass tools on book covers in order to decorate them”.
The acquisition of a Foil Stamping Machine will allow us, at chronospaper, to create new types of products. Secondly, the Stamping Machine will also allow us to provide new services to our clients, such as the decoration of thesis, book covers and menus (in which the texts are of bigger dimension).
