Nomadismo Digital Portugal is a project that presents remote work and digital entrepreneurship as valid alternatives for those seeking to discover the potential of the Internet as a workplace.
In 2016, when I created the project Nomadismo Digital Portugal, I didn't know the impact that this blog would have on my life - and so many other people. It started out as a blog where I shared what I was learning and doing as a freelance working 100% remotely. The traffic was increasing, and I started looking at the project as something that could be bigger than a simple blog.
In the summer of 2016, I launched the first product: the eBook "Como ser Freelancer" (How to Become a Freelancer). That same season, the project gained visibility, having said the opportunity to participate in articles and interviews in the Magazine Sábado, in the Lux Woman Magazine, in P3 and even in TVI (Portuguese Television).
In December 2016, I organized the first meetup related to the project, at Cowork Lisboa. Dozens of people went to this event to talk about remote work and digital entrepreneurship.
In 2017 I moved to Palo Alto, California in Silicon Valley. The inspiration and motivation to create a project with a higher purpose only grew.
With this crowdfunding campaign, I aim to make Nomadismo Digital Portugal an even more prominent project during the year 2018. Any investment is accompanied by rewards, which can be found in the table opposite.
Remote Work and Digital Entrepreneurship
Remote work is a growing trend (this article from Fast Company shows precisely that), and in Portugal, there are more and more cowork spaces, indicating that it is also a growing trend in our country.
"The fear of a name only increases the fear of this same thing," wrote JK Rowling in Harry Potter. And it is much through this idea that digital nomadism appears. Faced with the fear of the speed of technology and new industries, faced with the fear of being trapped in activities that can quickly dissipate and the fear of seeing technology win, more and more people have joined the technology.
A digital nomad is someone who works remotely, thanks to the Internet. A lot of persons thinks this only includes people who work with computers or with digital fields. That's wrong! Today we have lawyers, nutritionists, psychologists, teachers, accountants and several other professions working exclusively remotely.
More than a simple site of sporadic content, I want to make Nomadismo Digital Portugal a regular content platform, addressing topics such as remote work, digital entrepreneurship, self-employment, digital initiatives, productivity, and organization. I realized that to take the project to where I want to; I need to have a professional and total dedication, making the project self-sustaining and independent from my work as a remote freelancer.
In addition to a content-text platform, I want the project to grow for YouTube with video content and organize remote and in-person events. I try to make this project a representation of the Portuguese digital entrepreneur, with materials that are useful. With almost two years of existence, a lot of messages, chats, invitations to participate in studies, articles, interviews, doubts, and questions sent via email and messaging, all of this have shown that the project has become a reference when it comes to digital entrepreneurship and remote work in Portugal.
In 2018 I want to create relevant and useful information that inject motivation on those who seek to build their professional opportunity with instructional contents, online courses, workshops and relevant partnerships. Let's do this, together?
