Tiago Costa was diagnosed with Leukemia in February of 2015. After different treatments and the medula transplant, the fight it´s not over. Tiago still has different health problems and he's still fighting for his life.
Tiago Costa is 29 years old. He lives in Leiria with his mom and his younger brother. He has always been a happy, fun, nature-loving young man. He lived his life to the fullest, amongst family, friends, the university music band, in the beach, with his surfing and his climbing... Tiago didn't stop and he was very happy. Unfortunately, life played a trick on him and when he was about to finish his internship for his Sports Diploma, in the Rio Maior Institute he was diagnosed with Leukemia (February 2015). Since then Tiago's life has changed and he became stronger than ever. He went through all the necessary treatments with unexplainable strength and energy. During one year, he fought the illness with chemotherapy and strong medication and he ended up doing a bone marrow transplant. The cancer left but took with it all his strength, joy, patience and his smile. It left us with a sad, weak and sick Tiago. A Tiago that still needs a lot of assistance, long periods at the oncology institute, and of course needing his unstoppable mother's support. A mother who is alone, has one more son and whose job does not give her the necessary stability to cover all the expenses that Tiago's treatment requires. Unfortunately, these expenses include frequent trips to Porto, medication and other health and food needs that are not covered by the national health system. Fortunately, Tiago is not alone in this fight! He has an extended group of friends and family who won’t let him rest. We have been trying to help this family surviving all the expenses related to the disease. The kindness and solidarity of people has been incredible! And in this spirit, three events were organized where some money has been donated towards this cause. Nevertheless, things are not getting better and the expenses won’t stop increasing. Therefore, we hope you can join us and help Tiago. You can have a look at Tiago's page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/JuntosPeloTiago
