Limbo - a small measure of peace

Limbo is a short drama/suspense film based on the story La Morte, written in 1887 by the famous French writer Guy de Maupassant (particularly known for his short horror stories). Told through the protagonist's eyes, Limbo's story unfolds while a writer called Miguel recalls his memories of his lover Susana, in the wake of her early and sudden death.

This is our project. It's a shortfilm named Limbo, whose story is based on "La Morte", a shortstory written by the famous horror author Guy de Maupassant.

This is, above all else, a story about the transformative power of human relations, about truth and despair, illusion and disappointment, about whether it is possible or not to really know the people around us. 

This shortfilm will be comprised of a lot of different elements, from drama and romance to horror and even fantasy! We intend it to be structurally surprising, but universally engaging regarding its themes and content... To the point we're daring enough to believe that there's something in this film for everyone! 

And that’s what keeps us moving: the fact that, by doing so, we get to share our goal and our passion with you.  

We're a young and enthusiastic team, focused on the immense sense of opportunity cinema, as a medium, provides: we don't know of any better way to explore and get to know the world that surrounds us – to make sense of what we feel, of our experiences and aspirations! 

This is what we tried and managed to achieve when we made Tsintty - There's Something I Need To Tell You. Several film festivals welcomed our previous shortfilm, and it ended up travelling all over the world – and even winning several awards in some of the competitive categories for which it was nominated. 

We’re invested in overcoming obstacles, constantly searching for something more, for the next step forward, examining every detail that will take our project even farther. By exploring new techniques and more innovative ways to communicate, we expect to together empower Limbo to become a lot more than just another shortfilm. 

We know it in our hearts that we’re able to do this and that we have the resources that will allow us to accomplish the goals we’re setting ourselves to achieve. But we won’t keep this a secret from you: we need you to travel this journey with us, for it will elevate Limbo to a whole new standard.   

Together, we can and want to become ‘Limbo’!

About the author

I'm Spiderman. I wish. I am nothing more than a normal person. Film making is my life, my dream and the main thing that keeps me moving forward in life. I am not in this business of making movies because I am trying to reach that level where I am an amazingly famous writer/director making Hollywood movies.

Of course I'd be lying if I said that I don't want it. I'm not involved in film making because I strive to become a celebrity, I'm in it because I just have no choice, it's who I am.

Budget and due dates

Crowdfunding is a great way for us to reach out and engage our community, whilst building an audience for what we believe is going to be a very exciting and relevant film. As the director, my vision on a story like La Morte is full of technical challenges that go from renting a Motion Capture Studio for the animation of the CG creatures to the creation of various sets.

So what do we really need?
The money we raise will be spent on:

Some renting equipment and set build;
Costumes and prop hire (because we need it to look right!);
Catering, so everyone is well fed and watered on shoot days;
Travel expenses for cast and crew to get to set;
Post production costs, like motion capture and CGI;
We will also eventually need money to submit the film to festivals, thereby reaching a wider international audience.

Rest assured any money we make OVER our funding target will go to good use, namely paying our cast and crew something close to their real professional rates and that would make us trully happy to be able to do since , without them, we wouldn't be possible to make all this, even this crowdfunding campaign.

Beyond that, it could also be spent on submitting Limbo to MORE film festivals and marketing the film effectively so that we can reach as many people as possible.

We are committed to making this film and we really want you to be an important part on Limbo's Family.
