In partnership with the Social Welfare Office of City Council of Leiria, MaiFix launches this campaign to raise funds to rehabilitate/repair at least a house of a family in the area of Leiria.
The district of Leiria, as happens all over the country, has dozens of families who unfortunately and due to the economic situation, was forced to swap homes and in some cases even ask for full support to entities such as the City Council, Social Security or social solidarity institutions, to have a place where they could live in.
Although we can not offer accommodation to those in need, we want to improve the housing of whom has it's own but severely dammaged. Especially those suffering with severe leaks and poor insulation, which in extreme cases can even take lifes.
So, being MaiFix an online platform to request estimates, we decided to create this campaign in collaboration with a credible entity that could mention one or more families that actually need help.
The estimate request in MaiFix, so that professionals can answer, will only be inserted when we reach the minimum amount we ask for and after that, together with a representative from the City Council of Leiria, we will carefully check the chosen house(s) to collect all the necessary information.
If it is necessary to have the family temporary relocated, the City Council expresses it's readiness also to help in this process, not offering housing because unfortunately there are no social housing available due to the huge number of requests that exists, but in supporting the family to talk to known people, relatives or friends to accept one or more persons temporarily during the most critical works.
Needless to say that 100% of the total amount will be used for renovations/repairs and if we can double, triple, etc. we will try to help even more families and repair more houses (e.g. if we get triple the amount, we will be able to help three families).
As for the final arrangements, it will be allocated to each family. That is, will be donated to them, not in the form of money, but in the form of medicines they may need and/or food supply.
