Hello! I'm Jasmim Pinto, a trumpet player and composer from Viseu, and I'm about to take a big step in my musical journey: releasing my first album of original songs under my own name.
This album was born from a very special project I developed in 2025: the creation of an original live soundtrack for the silent film "The Playhouse" (1921), by Buster Keaton. After premiering to a full house and with extra sessions at the Que Jazz É Este? festival in Viseu, and seeing the work praised by the specialized critic Gonçalo Falcão (in Jazz.PT magazine), I realized that these compositions had the potential to be developed and go much further.
I transformed these cinematic themes and settings into 8 original compositions conceived for a somewhat atypical quintet formation: trumpet, cello, electric guitar, electric bass, and drums.
I was very fortunate to see this project recognized and supported by the EixoCultura program of the Municipality of Viseu, which allowed me to finance the crucial phase of rehearsals, recording, mixing and mastering of the album, as well as prepare the presentation concerts with the premiere in Viseu (October 2026) and subsequent tour in other cities, namely Porto and Coimbra.
However, the funding obtained is not enough to cover the costs of the physical edition of this album. Therefore, I am asking for your help to make this possible and to bring you a CD edition with graphic design by visual artist Luís Belo.
The funds raised in this campaign will be entirely used for CD duplication, graphic printing of covers/inserts, and PPL platform commissions. If we exceed our goal, the extra funds will help with travel for our national tour and take the project to Spain!

About the author
Hello! My name is Jasmim Pinto, I am a trumpet player, composer, and passionate about storytelling and improvisation in Jazz.
I began my musical journey in the Santar Philharmonic Band and at the Viseu Music Conservatory. I completed the Jazz Instrumentalist course at the Coimbra Music Conservatory and am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Jazz at the Higher School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) in Porto.
Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege of learning from renowned musicians (such as Joaquim Rodrigues, Susana Santos Silva, Gileno Santana, Gonçalo Marques, among others) and of being part of inspiring projects such as the show Sophia (by Ana Bento, Bruno Pinto and Joana Craveiro) and collaborations with Gira Sol Azul (Gira Big Band, A Voz do Rock, among others).
I believe that music is essential and should be shared with everyone. This quintet represents my debut as a project leader and composer, establishing my voice in the Portuguese jazz and contemporary improvised music scene.

Budget and due dates
The goal of this campaign on PPL is to raise the minimum amount needed to transform the digital recordings of my first album into a physical CD edition, while also covering the associated operational costs.
The total amount sought of €700 will be distributed as follows: direct production expenses by Marsupial Studio for the duplication of 100 CDs, including the printing of covers and packaging, and approximately 10% of the total for PPL platform commissions and bank transaction costs.
I recall that the costs of the entire prior process of rehearsals, studio recording, mixing and mastering, as well as the graphic design, were made possible through the support of the EixoCultura program of the Municipality of Viseu.
This fundraising campaign focuses strictly on the physical production of the album. If the goal is exceeded, the extra funds will be used to support the logistics and travel expenses of the musicians on their promotional tour.
Regarding the work plan, the recording took place at the beginning of June 2026, and the mixing and mastering are currently in their final stages. Simultaneously, the campaign on PPL and the finalization of the graphic design are underway.
In September 2026, the material will be sent to the factory to begin the duplication process. The receipt of the physical discs and the sending of rewards to all backers are scheduled for the end of September 2026, the same month in which the album will be released on digital platforms (September 25th).
The presentation concerts will take place from October onwards, with the premiere in Viseu on October 16th.
