Cancer doesn't choose species, age, sex, or race. It can affect any living being. They didn't choose this battle. But we chose not to let them fight alone 🙏🏽

‼️Cancer. Carcinoma. Lymphoma. Tumor. Nodule. Neoplasm. Malignant disease...‼️

These are words that nobody wants to hear 😪
Words that frighten us. That fill us with worry. That make us think of the worst.

But for us, they are also words that signify struggle, courage, resilience, and hope.
Because as long as there's a chance, however small, we will continue to fight for them 🙏🏽

🐾 Duda has already undergone amputation of both ears and received cryotherapy treatment for a lesion on her forehead. She will soon have to repeat the treatment, but continues to face everything with admirable strength.

🐾 Fred came in for a simple tooth extraction. That's when a carcinoma was discovered inside his nose. He's already had two cryotherapy sessions and continues his battle with a serenity that touches our hearts.

🐾 Nino lost his nose to fight cancer and recovered extraordinarily. Just when we thought the worst was over, a new mass appeared on his lower lip. He has already undergone surgery and is preparing for another treatment.

🐾 Meggy underwent emergency surgery due to a mammary tumor. The recovery has been long and painful, but day by day, she is showing that her will to live is greater than any obstacle.

🐾 Margarida had to have both ears amputated, as they were severely affected by cancer. Despite everything she went through, she is recovering very well and continues to be an incredibly sweet and gentle cat.

About the author

The association was born from a dream. Sónia is an animal lover and her main focus is on cats. Little by little, she created conditions to improve the lives of stray cats.

She started by building shelters, and at home she took in the sweetest cats to find responsible homes. However, as more and more sweet cats needed rehabilitation, she decided to rent a space to have better conditions for them, since she could no longer do it all from home. In the midst of the pandemic, Sónia rented a space. It was a very big risk, but her dream of helping unwanted cats was even greater.

Sónia's dream came true 6 years ago with the help of several friends.
The Sintra Cat Village Association was established a few months after Sónia rented the first space. Over the years, many people have joined this project, and some of them are Sónia's right-hand people. The Association has had its ups and downs; we have days when we cry a lot, but we also have days when we smile a lot.

We deal with financial difficulties daily, because with over 130 cats, and at this time with many babies in our care, the expenses are not easy to bear, considering that we only survive on donations.

In recent months, monthly veterinary bills have been around €5000/month.
