SEAT A CHILD AT THE TABLE OF THE FUTURE

Help equip the new Bela Vista School in Guinea-Bissau by contributing to the purchase of classroom desks that will provide 140 children with better conditions to learn and thrive.

In 2008, a dream was born in Guinea-Bissau: to create a school capable of transforming lives through education. We started in a rented house, with very limited resources but with great faith, courage and commitment. In 2017, we opened a second rented building to welcome even more children and young people.

For 18 years, we have saved and invested everything we could to build a school of our own. Today, that dream is almost a reality. The new Bela Vista School has two floors, 18 classrooms, a library room, a computer room, administrative offices and other facilities designed to provide a welcoming learning environment.

However, one essential step remains: furnishing the five classrooms that still have no desks.

We need 70 double desks, at a total cost of 3,581,500 XOF (the local currency), approximately €5,510. Each desk represents far more than two seats – it represents dignity, comfort, hope and a genuine opportunity for 140 children to learn.

About the author

Bela Vista School is an educational project eager to open its doors. It currently serves around 1,000 children, spread across two school buildings located in different neighbourhoods.

Our goal is to bring all of these students together in a single purpose-built facility, offering far better learning conditions than we are currently able to provide.

The project was founded with the vision of delivering quality education and creating new opportunities for children and young people in the local community. At present, the public education system is unable to meet the needs of everyone seeking access to education.

In the long term, Bela Vista School also aims to expand its mission to higher education, ensuring that secondary school graduates can continue their studies and build a brighter future.

Every contribution, no matter the size, is an important step towards making this dream a reality for the entire community.

Budget

The new school building has 18 classrooms, each designed to accommodate 14 double desks, requiring a total of 252 double desks for the entire school.

At present, 70 double desks are still needed to furnish the five classrooms that remain unequipped. Each desk costs 51,164 XOF (the local currency), equivalent to approximately €78.70.

The total amount required to purchase these 70 desks and create learning spaces for 140 students is €5,510.

Our goal is to have all desks installed before August 2027, so that the new classrooms are fully equipped for the next generation of students.
