Carolina Lucas TREATMENTS 2025

Hello, I';m Carolina Lucas, I'm 20 years old, I'm an university student and I need your help to undergo intensive treatments during the summer holidays, with the aim of improving my quality of life. Can I count on you?

I am a 20-year-old woman, born prematurely, at 29 weeks gestation, and I have Cerebral Palsy, which prevents me from walking. This condition affects me “only” at a motor level (I have some difficulty with my upper limbs and I move around in a wheelchair). Fortunately, my cognitive abilities were preserved. I am in my third year of college, studying Translation!

I have been undergoing intensive treatments since I was 3 years old, first in Cuba, and now in a clinic in Portugal that follows similar methods (CHS-CEI). The aim of the treatments is to improve my quality of life, prevent deformities and (still) I hope that one day I will be able to walk!

Unfortunately, the Portuguese healthcare system does not pay for or reimburse these treatments.
The treatments are carried out in cycles, during the summer holidays. Each 28-day cycle costs €5,900. I need €11,800/year in total (2 months of treatment). I ask for your help to raise the amount for just 1 cycle .

The fact that we are asking for €6,500 instead of €5,900 is related to the commission values charged by PPL (€6,500 will be €5,900.38 net).

My name is Carla Brito, I am Carolina Lucas' aunt and caregiver. For another year, I decided to (re)create this project to continue providing Carolina with the annual treatments she so desperately needs!

Since Carolina was 3 years old (about 17 years ago), I have raised part of the cost of her treatments through events I have promoted and by selling products online. The money raised is used entirely to pay for the treatments. We also collect bottle caps to help.

Budget and due dates

The clinic where I receive treatments is called CHS-CEI and is located in Braga.

The ideal is to always do 2 treatment cycles per year (corresponding to 2 months, during the summer school holidays). Each cycle costs approximately €5,900, totaling €11,800.

I need help raising money to pay just one of the months. My family is unable to pay the full amount because, after paying all the expenses I have regularly, they are unable to save the total amount I need each year.
