About the author

Fernando Ferreira was born in 1975, in Mafamude, Vila Nova de Gaia, into a humble family. At the age of 3, he moved to Labruge, Vila do Conde.

At the age of 12, he finished the 6th year of compulsory schooling and, two months later, he started working to help support his family. Married and father of son and daughter, he currently lives in Malta/Canidelo, in the municipality of Vila do Conde.

Always interested in Photography and Nature, it was at the age of 40 that he had the opportunity to acquire a digital camera, which strengthened his passion.

In 2015, he began, in a self-taught and voluntary manner, to exhaustively document the Fauna and Flora of several villages in the municipality of Vila do Conde (with the goal of covering all villages), including the Mindelo Ornithological Reserve, the oldest protected area in Portugal and one of the oldest in Europe.

A world pioneer with the first Inclusive Photography Exhibition for colorblind people, the next objective, if support is obtained, is to incorporate inclusion tools for people with visual impairments into the exhibitions.

The work developed has already received attention in local, national and even international media, including reports on RTP1, Porto Canal and a documentary in Romania.

Fernando has also made several Didactic and Inclusive Exhibitions and participated in several books.
