It was our promise for 2020, but the funds didn't come, nor did the pandemic allow us to fulfill it. Now, we want to enter 2022 with the right foot, the left foot, the head and the DREAM that commands the heart: it's time to spend a weekend away!
A weekend like this is almost more expensive than a month of activities at Fábrica dos Sonhos, but we know how much they deserve and how special a moment of monitors and children is, for more than 24 hours in a row! After all, who doesn't remember how magical the nights spent sleeping at friends' houses were?
About the author
The Cova do Mar Association is a non-profit association with the mission of “leaving to Humanity the legacy of an NGO that equally defends Human Rights, Animal Rights and Environmental Rights”. We carry out our mission in two ways: through humanitarian action with field projects with a profound social impact, and through advocacy actions (public affairs activism).
At Cova do Mar, we started from the view that “no child should have to pay to play”.
We live in a society where 'playing' is sometimes a business around childrens hapiness and which depends on the financial availability of households, therefore excluding children whose households live on the threshold of extreme poverty and/or in contexts of social exclusion because they do not have the social and economic means to provide them with these important resources for their global development.
Fábrica dos Sonhos is the materialization of this utopia - a 100% free play space, with activities developed around the needs of children - located exactly where it is most needed: in the center of the biggest run-down neighborhood in Greater Lisbon.
To date, a total of 112 children have passed through the FS.
