The New York marathon is one of the most famous in the world. 42 Kms that Francisco decided to turn into smiles. Run along with us by donating for every Km you believe Francisco will accomplish (1€ = 1km).
The funds raised for this initiative will enable ANGEL to create Social Grants to be granted to people with Angelman Syndrome from families with low income, so that they can access a larger range of therapies and specialized services that will significantly contribute to improving their self-sufficiency and standard of living.
Help us by donating for each Km you believe Francisco will accomplish (1€ = 1Km). Even though the marathon is only 42 Kms, feel free to donate as much as you like.
Furthermore, at the end, 10 boxes of “Fonte dos Sorrisos” wine will be drawn for the participants that accompany Francisco on his journey.
About the author
ANGEL was created in 2012 by a group of parents of children with Angelman Syndrome. Its main aim is to provide a focal point of communication and information in Portugal for people with Angelman Syndrome, their parents and families. Other goals are: to advertise Angelman Syndrome, with a view to allowing an early diagnosis and prompt intervention; to facilitate the access to information, monitoring and therapies for people with Angelman Syndrome and their families; to support and promote, in cooperation with professionals and health technicians, specific programs that encourage the development of individuals with Angelman Syndrome; to support initiatives designed to create conditions for the vocational education and the professional integration of teenagers and adults with Angelman Syndrome.
Francisco is a young lawyer from Lisbon; he is 34 years old, married and the father of three daughters. He is also a big friend of ANGEL who decided to turn this challenge into a solidarity cause. Even though it is his first time in a marathon, he decided to run the 42 Kms of the very famous New York marathon with the purpose of helping ANGEL to raise funds for the creation of Social Grants.
Budget and due dates
We believe Francisco will reach the finish line and as such, we aim to support him until the finish line and reach the total of 4.200 € – 100 € for each km pursued.
As the race is on the 1/11, you have until then to enter the marathon and become eligible to win one of the 10 boxes of "Fonte dos Sorrisos" wine we have to offer.
This amount will enable us to create Social Grants to support children and teenagers with AS coming from low income families, in having better access to therapies and specialized services and to attain a better quality of life.
The Social Grants shall be implemented in the beginning of the year of 2016.
