Three years ago ,Marta Baeta, a Portuguese student went to Kibera, the largest slum in the world in a school project . After three months she returned to Portugal, sold all that she had, and returned to Kenya, where she decided to found the project of hes life, From Kibera With Love. Marta managed to create a school program that favela children could attend, teachers, leisure activities, but the main fight is to get donations for their education . I, Diana, decided to join her, but before...

This crowdfunding serves to raise funds for the children of the world’s largest slum, Kibera in Kenya. The project From Kibera with Love has three years and aims to offer children the opportunity to study in a good school rather than walk around the favela, like the past generations. Education is the greatest weapon that can give a child, as said Nelson Mandela.

There is no support of local organizations and the Kenyan government as no interest in help.

Martaa Baeta, Portuguese founder of the organization From Kibera With Love, lives in Kibera for the past three years, and work hard daily in this project she created. She has been deathly threatened. They are the future of the country. We need to help her changing that.

Progress and education generates more informed and more demanding citizens. And not everyone wants that. Not everyone has an interest in it.

The under-development is mirrored in Africa, which concentrates most of the poorest countries in the world, which are in a dramatic situation: the economy is delayed and dependent agriculture is backward and threatened by devastating droughts and bad weather, politic is dominated by instability generated by the establishment of dictatorial governments and the persistence of tribal conflicts. Consequently, the pillars of social development: health, education and culture, are void.

I met this project, through my Rotaract Club and we have been senting some school books, medicin, and lamps through Marta’s mother, who regularly visit her in Kenya, I decided to go there too. It is impossible to remain indifferent to this situation.

Today we easily spend € 5 (or more) per week in futility. Can you give up a coffee a day to help these kids?

Marta founded this project, and I'm ready to leave Lisbon, and to help with anything they need. I assure you that your money will be well spent, I give you my word.

You have here the opportunity to change the life of a child, which in the future will become an educated young adult, informed and with clear golds.

This is the greatest wealth that we can give to someone. There are tragedies worldwide, and there are also Portuguese suffering from shortages.

I do my part here, and now I will make it there too. 1 euro is enough to help these boys. Are you in?

PARA ONDE FOI O MEU DINHEIRO?

Há 4 meses criei um crowdfunding para conseguir financiar os estudos das crianças apoiadas pelo projecto From Kibera With Love da Marta Baeta. A adesão e generosidade das pessoas surpreendeu-me.

Obrigada!

    Last day. Thank you donor!

If you are reading this message, it is because you were a donor of crowdunfing To Kibera With Love, and have contribute to improve the lives of these 65 children. I have no words to thank you. It's the last day, and the original purpose (sponsorship of a child for one year), was exceeded by three times. And now we can ensure the education of three children for a year, in the best private school in the vicinity.

On my blog you can follow the daily adventures, accompanied with pictures to illustrate this experience, and can meet the faces of the children who you are helping. www.www.DIANAinkibera.blogspot.com

Missing € 121 to reach € 5,000 and would be a victory to achieve it. Fingers crossed, there are still 12 hours to the end of the campaign.

I urge all donors interested in receiving the reward corresponding to the amount of your donation, to send me an email to the address tokiberawithlove@gmail.com
Once I return to Portugal, I will send it to you.

A very thank you on behalf of children of From Kibera With Love

    Último dia. Last day!
