Who doesn't like to have a bed, food and laundry done? If we humans care, so do the animals! We will contribute to the purchase of an industrial washer and dryer for an animal shelter.
Every day, at the Cascais Animal Protection Center, kilos of clothing are used, including blankets, towels and other textiles to snuggle, care for and provide greater comfort to the animals that are in the shelter waiting for a guardian to adopt them.
Taking care of textiles, collecting, washing, drying and replacing them is just one of the many daily tasks that our caretakers are responsible for.
The acquisition of an industrial machine that will speed up the washing and drying process of clothes will undoubtedly contribute to the quality of life of the more than 500 animals that we are in charge of.

As part of the strategy implemented in 2011 with the definitive ban on the indiscriminate slaughter of animals in our Municipality, in 2017 the new facilities will be inaugurated, strengthening the response capacity, both in terms of Animal Health, Protection and Welfare, as well as in the concerning hygiene and food safety.
In this way, it was possible to guarantee greater efficiency in the provision of this public service, which falls within the competences of the municipalities.
Here, all the animals collected are housed, and the necessary veterinary and medical assistance is provided. When unclaimed, animals are referred for responsible adoption. It is also the place designated for the official quarantine of animals that present themselves without valid anti-rabies vaccination and that are involved in episodes of aggression against people or other animals.
The City Council, with the support of the São Francisco de Assis Association, ensures in this way the control of the overpopulation of stray animals, the collection of animal corpses and inspection and awareness-raising actions with the general population. This makes it possible to safeguard the quality of life of pets residing in our territory and ensure the highest standards of public hygiene and health, within the framework of the current legislation and regulations.
The main objective of the Cascais Animal Protection Center is to guarantee stray animals, abandoned animals or victims of mistreatment in the Municipality of Cascais, a space where they can be received, treated, cherished and referred to a family that guarantees them a life with dignity and the respect they deserve, through the principles of responsible adoption, in a mission that demands the best from all of us and from those who daily accompany their work: Friends, Partners and Volunteers.
Budget and due dates
The amount to be raised is intended for the acquisition of industrial washing and drying equipment, with a capacity of 10 kg per wash.
It is intended to raise the amount by the end of September in order to acquire the equipment in October, the month from which the cold starts to be felt in greater strength.
