Support to the Kennel and Cattery Association "Os Rafeiritos do Alentejo"

We have about 40 dogs in our shelter and about 14 dogs in the care of Temporary Shelter Families, the costs being borne by the Association. We want to reduce the huge debt we owe in veterinary costs.

The Canil e Gatil Association “Os Rafeiritos do Alentejo”, based in Castro Verde, Beja district, was created in 2002 and welcomes abandoned domestic animals from the municipalities of Castro Verde, Almodôvar, Ourique and Aljustrel. Our animals are properly vaccinated, dewormed and sterilized. In addition to the costs associated with the animals that are sheltered from the kennel, to these costs are added urgent veterinary care for animals rescued from the streets: animals run over with bone fractures, animals with certain diseases, animals with fractures caused by former owners or litters of newborn dogs abandoned. We have about 40 dogs in our shelter and about 14 dogs in the care of Temporary Shelter Families, the costs being borne by the Association. We have already collected and given around 530 dogs for adoption.

In the past year of 2020, there were a lot of animals that we collected abandoned, some of them with fractures or diseases, most of them in need of urgent veterinary care. At this moment we have a debt that amounts to about 9000 € in several Veterinary Hospitals because we are not able to be stopped by those who need our assistance. We really need to pay for veterinary expenses as we will continue to help all the animals that need us. In that sense, all the money raised will go to reduce the debt we have at the moment. Like us, don't be indifferent to this cause. Think of all the animals that are abandoned, mistreated, that are born and are left in plastic bags to their luck. We didn't want to, but unfortunately these stories are real and happen every day. We have animals in the shelter that tell their story through their eyes, the marks of chains on their bodies, the wounds that never healed. We want to continue to fight for them and for the many who will still pass through our shelter. Don't be indifferent to these stories.

My name is Melanie Rodrigues Ribeiro, I am 24 years old and I am a volunteer and social organ of the Canil e Gatil Association "Os Rafeiritos do Alentejo". I always had a huge passion for animals, which led me to visit the Rafeiritos shelter and I fell in love even more with this cause that supports and shelters all animals that are in difficulties. Together with the other volunteers we try to give the best conditions to our patudos and we want everyone to find families forever.

Budget and due dates

The amount raised is intended to settle part of the € 9000 debt that we have in the various Veterinary Hospitals, the implementation of the project is immediate.
