This campaign is intended to raise funds for the Karaté (kumite) athlete to be able to participate in the 10th World Championship of Cadets, Juniors and Under-21 to be held in Tenerife from 25 to 29 October.

This campaign arises due to the need to raise funds for the participation of athlete Diogo Sousa in the "10th World Championship of cadets, juniors and under-21" to be held between 25 and 29 October. This request for help is based on the economic constraints of the Portuguese Karate Federation, since the athletes invited do not participate economically so that they can participate in the work of the National Team, with the displacements (900km per training / training in the case of Diogo ), accommodation, food and equipment entirely by the athlete, partially sharing approximately 40% of the total amount in travel, accommodation and meals, when participating in out-of-country tournaments. Therefore, since the training is not reimbursed; 60% of the participation in international tournaments are paid by the athlete; and the official and mandatory equipment for these competitions are also paid by the practitioner. It is almost impossible for a middle-income family to bear the burdens inherent in the regular participation of one of its elements in defending the country's colors in this mode. It is important to mention that Diogo, in September, when he started to be called to the National Karate Team, participated in the training and internship of the national team, as well as in the international tournament "XXVI Championship of the Mediterranean" in Tangier-Morocco with the expenses monthly of this month exceeded € 500 and once the estimate of spending for the current month of October, in the event that it participates in the world championships, will exceed € 700, the admission of this in the entourage of said Selection is dependent on aid external environment, and has therefore resorted to this means to achieve this.

About the author

Diogo Sousa is a young native of Faro, born November 26, 2002 (14 years old), a student, has excellent school results and lives with his father the mother and the younger sister in the city where he was born. He has been practicing this modality since 2008, having a 2ºkyu (brown belt) degree and is a Karate Clube de Faro athlete with Shian Guliver Nunes assisted by Sempai Carlos Guerreiro. The competitive course of Diogo is full of medal / podium achievements in numerous tournaments spread throughout the country, thus, I emphasize only the most relevant achievements of its competition. Sports Curriculum: National Championships 3rd place (individual male child kata) in 2011; 2nd place (Kumite male youth team) in 2016; National Champion (Kata male youth team) in 2016; National Champion (Kumite individual juvenile male -50kg) in 2016; 3rd place (Kumite individual male cadets -50kg) in 2016. Regional Championships Three-time Individual Men's Kumite Regional Champion; Three times 2nd place in individual male Kata; Twice 3rd place in individual male kata. International Championships 1st place (individual juvenile Kumite -48kg) at the "OPORTO Internacional NPK Open" in Feb / 2016 - Porto; 3rd place (Individual male juvenile Kumite -50kg) in the "International X - City Cup of Almeirim" in jun / 2016 - Almeirim; 1st place (Kumite individual male cadet -52kg) in "XXVI Great Karate XV International Tournament of Santo Tirso" in Jan / 2017 - Santo Tirso; 3rd place (Kumite individual male cadet -57kg) in the "International XI - City Cup of Almeirim" in June / 2017 - Almeirim; 5th place (Kumite individual cadet male -52kg) in the "XXVI Championship of the Mediterranean" in Sep / 2017 - Tangêr - Morocco.     Meus caros amigos, neste momento em que o meu filho soube que o montante tinha sido atingido e que os seus olhos brilharam com aquela lágrima a aparecer porque o seu sonho vai concretizar-se vocês foram indispensáveis para que o momento de alegria indescritível também fosse partilhado por este pai que tem um enorme orgulho nele e o adora ver feliz.
