Hello Friends, we came to ask for help so we can continue to help nobody's cats! We currently have 90 kittens in the association, with monthly costs of around 4 thousand euros, plus the urgent need to carry out maintenance work.
Every month we are charged with Rent (€800), Light (€120), Water (€180), Net (€48), Cleaning (€500), food and pâtés (€2200, in a space like ours we cannot control the food that each one eats, with the pâté we know they are eating) and there are also veterinary expenses.
The lack of volunteers led us to the need to hire a lady to help us with cleaning the space, as we know that to keep our kittens healthy it is necessary to properly clean the entire space.
The humidity has damaged some parts of our little house and the aunts really want to do the necessary work to keep the four-legged family comfortable, happy and healthy. To our little house on Rua Professor Agostinho da Silva nº53, we added a shelter for our friends on the street, which always needs maintenance and attention as the degradation of materials is faster outside and we cannot forget those who for some reason cannot come to our home.

This association was born from a dream. Sónia is an animal lover and has been involved in animal causes for as long as she can remember, her biggest focus being cats. Little by little, conditions were created to improve the lives of anyone's cats.
He started by building shelters (colonies) and at home he welcomed the sweetest cats to give them for responsible adoptions. However, as there were more and more sweet cats needing recovery, she decided to rent a space to be better able to accommodate them as she was no longer able to do so alone at home. And in the middle of the pandemic, Sónia rented a space, it was a very big risk, but the dream of helping no one's cats was even bigger.
Three years ago, Sónia's dream came true with the help of several friends.
The Associação Aldeia dos Gatos de Sintra was formed a few months after Sónia rented the first space. Over the years, several people have joined this project and some of them are Sónia's right-hand man. The Association has had ups and downs, we have days when we cry a lot, but we also have days when we smile a lot.
With the number of requests for help to welcome kittens and the growing increase in abandonment, the space where the Association was located no longer met the necessary conditions for the well-being of our boys.
At the beginning of 2023, the Association found a larger space with better conditions, at the moment we are in a space where we have an infirmary, a house to have the washing machine, a pantry to put the clothes, another to put the food and we have a room for recovery, then we have two rooms for our boys. We try to make our rooms as similar to a “home” as possible.
Budget and due dates
The amount requested will contribute to covering the accumulated monthly expenses and with your help we hope to be able to allocate part of the amount to improving the space, mainly the insulation of some areas with the aim of stopping the degradation caused by the humidity that enters mainly near the windows.
