Arts and Crafts”, was created in order to raise awareness among children and young people from Aldeias SOS in Cape Verde, giving them more knowledge about nutrition and healthy hygiene.
The aim of this “Arts and Crafts” project is to raise awareness among children and young people from the Aldeias SOS in Cape Verde, giving them more knowledge about nutrition and healthy hygiene, creating conditions for them to work on their motor coordination continuously and progressive through artistic activities, developing creativity, sensitivity, self-confidence and sharing in community. At the same time, they acquire skills and learning about primary and essential health for life, and that they can pass this knowledge on to others.
The need to carry out this project with the Aldeias SOS of Cape Verde was detected, and an appeal was made to Associação Horizontes to address this issue. It is the understanding of Associação Horizontes that the development of arts and crafts is an excellent learning opportunity, as the artistic areas are one of the important forms of human expression and communication, which justifies their presence in the context of early childhood education.
Based on this principle, we intend to create an environment that allows children and young people to travel through imagination, providing learning with pleasure, animation and sharing of knowledge, by the artists invited to carry out these training courses.
The appropriation of skills will be carried out at various levels, aiming to enable children/young people to perform with excellence, with learning paths adapted to the age group and social conditions of the participants, promoting the development and acquisition of knowledge and skills of an artistic, behavioral nature and social, expressing freely, developing their creative capacity, increasing sensitivity in a playful way, respecting and valuing their own work and that of their colleagues, creating opportunities for personal and community interaction with the other participants.
We carried out this project with the objective of making the target public aware of the importance of adequate and balanced food and nutrition, as well as healthy hygiene, with specialized knowledge and directed at these two aspects of what health is as a whole and as a value. important and main for a good quality of life through interaction with artists and artisans, covering the following specific objectives:
✓ Develop research capacity;
✓ Acquire and expand knowledge about Cape Verde and other countries through working with
the various artists;
✓ Make the target audience aware of the importance of healthy eating and hygiene
through artistic works;
✓ Propose artwork so that children acquire their own skills and solutions
across:
- Painting and drawing;
- Sculpture, modeling and construction;
- Theatre, acting and writing;
- Sewing material they can use or sell;
- Natural cosmetics and essential hygiene items;
- Construction of toys;
- Permaculture.
Project completion on site
As a conclusion of the proposed project, the trainers will carry out, together with the trainees, an artistic work / presentation to the community, which, in the case of areas such as the plastic arts, the final work will be in the respective village or town in which the direction of the initiative finds more pertinent, as a milestone and memorial of the action taken, allowing the trainees to carry out a project completion work together with the community.
In the case of performing arts areas, an event will be held to present and conclude the project with the community.
