Help us complete the Talasnal Schist Interpretive Center, a space that will tell the story of the origin of schist and its use in the construction of this village and others in the Serra da Lousã, as well as other applications in industry.
Talasnal is one of the most beautiful schist villages in Portugal. Nestled on the slopes of the Serra da Lousã mountain range, built stone by stone with schist from the mountain itself, it is today a vibrant, restored place, visited by thousands of people every year. But there is one chapter yet to be closed.
The Talasnal Schist Interpretation Centre was born from the desire to give voice to the soul of this village: to the way of life of its people, to the traditional architecture, to the deep relationship with nature and to the resilience of those who stayed, or returned. The beginning of the work was partially financed by Turismo de Portugal and by the village's owner-members. We've come a long way. But there's still one step to take.
To finish construction and open our doors, we need less than €10,000. An amount that, with the support of those who love these places, we believe we can raise.

What will exist?
A geological interpretation space dedicated to the schist rocks of the schist-greywacke complex found in this territory, and to the applications of schist in the construction of villages, open to visitors, schools and communities, a point of knowledge sharing for those who visit the village of Talasnal and want to understand where the rocks that built it come from, their origin, their geological age and the relationship of these rocks and quartz veins with gold mineralizations in the Serra da Lousã.
Who are we?
We are the Talasnal Owners Association, a group of people who believed in the recovery of this village when others doubted. We restored houses, trails, and memories. And now we want to close this cycle and offer visitors a more comprehensive aspect of tourism: geotourism.
Who supported us?
This project was endorsed by the geology departments of the Universities of Porto, Lisbon, and Coimbra, as well as the Center for Natural Resources and Environment (CERENA), representing the two largest engineering schools of the Universities of Lisbon and Porto. We also received recognition of strategic interest from ADXTUR.
Your support, no matter the amount, makes a difference. Here, there are no small contributions; there are stones that, together, build a center, a history, a future.
Thank you for being a part of this.
