Starting point! For social inclusion in the art world. We will provide 8 young people with intellectual and visual disabilities to participate in an artist residency in Turkey.
This project aims to develop autonomy for young people with Down syndrome and young people with intellectual and visual disabilities.
It also aims to promote artistic inclusion in the field of dance, make known our work in the field of inclusive dance, teach a little about Portugal and our culture to other institutions.
It will promote an intercultural encounter between two different countries, creating bonds of friendship between them.
We are all different! Every human being has an inner strength that moves us and makes us dream.
These dancers are a source of inspiration and persistence, giving up is not part of their vocabulary.
Shining up on stage listening to the applause of the audience makes them so happy they seem to have won the world.
They are a real source of inspiration for everyone.
But for this to happen we have to raise money for travel, accommodation and food. we have the support of Turkey, but as you know it's not a country with a lot of money for culture.
We are the Sôma21 group from crinabel an institution in Lisbon more specifically in Lumiar
We have 5 years of existence.
In the beginning, when we started to work, we couldn't even lift our feet off the ground, but with dedication, our persistence and that of our teacher, we managed to grow and become true dancers.
We participated in several inclusive dance classes, workshops we acquired technique, we made many friends
We have partnerships with some dance companies, we are growing as human beings and as professionals.
In addition to working at our institution, we also want to go further, we dream of being part of professional dance companies that want to work with us.
Little by little, we are growing, gaining new horizons so that our society can see us with different eyes and not be the poor people, but the dancers of inclusive dance.
In this project, we will also be able to gain more autonomy and broaden knowledge of what it is like to be an active citizen
Together we can go further.
