Develop emotional literacy for mental health through the following activities: permaculture; composting stimulating: emotional and social skills, and favoring personal and social well-being, as well as quality of life.

The construction of the wooden house, in a rural space in Évora, aims to create the possibility of increasing a multi-faceted educational ecovillage in its functions: oriented, to the production and cultivation of products in: vegetable garden; orchard and garden (operating the application of a set of techniques: permaculture; composting; hydroponics for the disposal of horticultural and fruit products, together with small agricultural producers (especially due to the covid-19 pandemic) located in Évora, however inside the house in wood, in rural areas, it is intended to develop activities, within the scope of non-formal education (emotional literacy for mental health; community theater; non-verbal language - tone of voice; gestures, facial expressions -) oriented to socio-cultural inclusion intending to achieve three essential stages: Allow to learn about mental health, what it consists of, how it is preserved, and rehabilitate (or develop); Enables to learn, mental health by understanding its ideal context in the social, cultural environment that on the other hand, to teach mental health to learn, by enhancing the necessary attitudes and behaviors oriented to socio-cultural inclusion, the full exercise of mental health isolated and collectively understood (in order to encourage and increase socio-cultural inclusion).

The use of the wooden house, in a rural space in Évora, aims to make it possible to plan and execute inside, the development and application through non-formal education methods and techniques (community theater; body language - gestures; tone of voice). voice; facial expression, inclusive performing art; music therapy), to motivate and involve him, the Associação Libermente and the community participants (in particular, to the pupils, male and female teachers, primary and basic and secondary schools, to learn emotional (empathy and resilience) and social (integration, inclusion, and insertion) skills, such as expressing their feelings and thoughts, starting from their emotional experiences and experiences in relation to the state of mental health; encouraging a predisposition of attitudes and behaviors of acceptance and understanding of the role of emotions in daily life; stimulating the sharing of insecurities and fears, in relation to the disclosure of emotions, towards others; establish a link between how they manage themselves, and react to emotions according to the reality they live in; in questioning prejudices and emotional stereotypes; for promoting awareness of the added value (functional benefits) of emotional intelligence for health; and by empowering participants of today's possible mental illnesses.

About the author

About the promoter of the campaign: Wooden House for Pedagogical Ecovillage, is as follows: graduated in Sociology, having experience in the construction of socio-organizational diagnoses (in the detection of social / cultural and educational problems and needs).
As well as, in strategic planning, for the application of emotional intelligence activities (based on the methodology of non-formal education), on the other hand the application of transforming social impact assessment, (in the relationship between the established objectives and the results achieved), thus contributing to the social health of those, having participated in environmental projects abroad namely: participation in the project of permaculture environmental methods and techniques, in the Suderbyn ecovillage (in Sweden), participation in the project of environmental composting methods and techniques in the ecovillage from Gjerstad (in Norway).

On the other hand, the team that integrates the following elements, one participant, has training in the area of music, in the specialty of teaching music, having experience of study and work, in the instruments of: singing; guitar and piano, promoting and developing the direct empowerment of mental health (in its preservation, and healing), for those who participate in this same project for psychosocial intervention, of the participants in this project.

Then another participant with training in the area of Heritage Management and Valorization, with experience, research in the area, as well as in the promotion of plastic arts and performing arts activities, (developing a critical spirit and reflective capacity), contributing to attenuation of mental illnesses / disorders, thus directly valuing the mental health of the participants in this project.

Therefore, this team constitutes itself as being a project, transversal in its diversified competences, from non-formal education (emotional intelligence), through music (music therapy), contemplating adapted sport (sports inclusion) takes on an approach comprehensive cooperative and diversified, to increase its effectiveness of intervention in the social / cultural scope of work to be carried out.

Another colleague who is part of this project, has training in the area of Sport, physical exercise and health, having experience in the field of promotion, rehabilitation and development of physical health, working as a personalized individual trainer, where his work focuses on training about: resistance; strength and speed individually, however, on the other hand, there is also the aspect of this work, but for larger groups.

Budget and due dates

The timing of the stages of the project: our ludic-didactic activities in non-formal education, are multidisciplinary, diversified and are composed of an open perspective, integrating and inclusive to all age groups and genders. However, its development is gradual due to the existing human resources, and the outpatient characteristics that members will have during an initial phase. Thus, the various phases of the project are:


1st Phase (roughly 1st year) - Develop a set of activities within the Casa de Madeira da EcovilaPedagógica, based on non-formal education methods and techniques (emotional literacy; community theater; non-verbal language: - gestures that enable the sustainability of the campaign Wooden House for Pedagogical Ecovillage, that is, in this first phase, make non-formal education services and food goods available to the community while, in the background, we form solidified partnerships with other partners: associations; organizations; third sector institutions. (Budget for the construction of the foundation / masonry / roof house: 3,500 €);

2nd Phase (2nd year) - Inside the Casa de Madeira for a Pedagogical EcoVila, develop activities based on non-formal education activities (emotional literacy; community theater; non-verbal language tone of voice, facial expression), and developing agricultural activities from: permaculture; composting; hydroponics in partnership with other third sector entities in the Évora region, involving its institutional agents and the surrounding community. Together, develop our activities open to the public, ensuring our sustainability. It is intended in this period (depending on the surplus of the first year) to hire 1 person to help us develop our service and also, to start making available the Socio-educational Diagnosis and the Transformer Impact Assessment (Budget of renewable electricity in the house: € 400);


3rd Phase (3rd year) - Develop our entire Work Portfolio in full, and have its own headquarters.
These initiatives aim to develop participants' self-esteem, criticism and mental development and make participants more aware and participative (Budget for renewable wind energy in the house: € 148).


In fact, the activities that are intended to be made available with this project, are of weekly application, with the planning of activities to be structured structured weekly, and its application equally weekly. Only, the Social Diagnosis and Transformational Impact Assessment, and the BootCamp activity will have a monthly character.
