Short English Version: Ecos da Vermelha is a documentary about the places used by the Resistance during the Portuguese dictatorship "Estado Novo". It will be based on a Portuguese city: Vila Franca de Xira and it will be mostly about the cultural activities made during the years 1930-1970. We'll be doing the shootings with the people that were responsible of those places or their direct descendants and, when possible, on the exact places or their current substitutes. A big example of an activity that created a huge impact was “Zip Xira” (inspired by the television program “Zip Zip” by RTP).
We believe that our film will be very important for the future of our country and its History because it will comment on things that are rarely talked about.
Because it’s a project that requires some investment (mainly because of the huge number of interviews and archive material) we are very short on our budget and we kindly ask you for your help.
About the author
We are a small but very enthusiastic team. In addition to me, Bruno Teixeira (currently a master's degree student at the Universidade da Beira Interior and a graduate degree at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema) who will direct and produce the film, the team has more three elements. In my filography, I highlight the writing of the script of the movie "Verniz", directed by Clara Jost or the direction of the movie "Vila Franca in Cartoon" with the cartoonists from Vila Franca de Xira, António Antunes and Vasco Gargalo.
The director of photography will be Inês Luís, licensed in film by Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, where she made the short films "Tivessem ficado em casa, seus anormais" and "Berth", both already premiered in different film festivals.
The sound direction will be shared between me and Francisca Mendes (having already been done by Jade Pereira), also licensed in film by Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, where she was sound assistant in films such as "Tivessem ficado em casa, seus anormais" or "78.4" by Tiago Amorim.
The editing will be done by António Ramos, finalist of Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, where he was assistant editor in both films made by Inês Luís.
Budget and due dates
As it is a movie that requires some exhausting interviewing work, we will shoot for many days and for that we need some budget over 2000 €.
Because we are committed, we have filmed some interviews (which you can see in the video link above) but we need some money that the University cannot give us to continue working.
