The Sunday Show lasted 6 years, between 2002 and 2007, a symbol of one generation of Lisbon. In 2018 we want to do an "one off event" as a revival at Anjos70.
It's 2002, and on Sunday afternoons, the only thing to do was to go to the Colombo Shopping Center. The Bomba Suicida decided that this had to change. We created core group and joined by other people, artists and non-artists, to create a pure cabaret where for 2 hours people were really entertained. At 17:00 Madunna, La Monique and other characters were at the back door of Interpress building in Bairro Alto to welcome the audience. The show was just starting there. The audience was entering into a magical world of fantasy, glitter and trash.
From 18:00 to 20:00 / 21:00 Madunna and other times with La Monique were the presenters, and the numbers happened one after another for the pure delight of the public. As Manuel Henriques, the current deputy director of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale once said, "This is pretending to be serious" ... and yes ... it was all to pretend ... that was serious. This was the spirit.
The themes / titles were in the wandering of the creative minds of the members of Bomba Suicida: the "Repeat" where everyone had to reinterpret the same song, Elvis's "You were always on my mind", or "Dance, for a change" where the dance was honored, or when there was the invasion of the Chinese shops "Made in China", or "Sex is the answer" that began with Madunna's memorable phrase "If sex is the answer then ... I am the question! ", or even when we made the funeral of the historical character of Gonçalo Ferreira de Almeida, the mythical Maria Bakker in" Maria Bakker is dead ".
Finally, the Sunday Shows's stimulating themes / titles allowed artists to do things they would never do, or as grand artist Margarida Mestre once said: "It's a good thing I have Sunday because I was fed up doing stuff at home just for me." The desire to make this Sunday Show is shared by artists and audience. The Sunday Show was and will always be unconditionally done with a lot of love and exactly why it will be the theme of this Sunday at the ANJOS70: Love - "A Sunday of Love".
But for all this to happen we need your help. We will need money for the production, to make posters, makeup, set design and many other things more!
Mainly bring to La Monique from Macau (which is very expensive). So we decided to do this crowdfunding. Because we need you, our dear audience, friends and young people who do not know us, want to know what we did in the zero years at the beginning of this century!
If you want the Sunday Show, then we want you ... we need you. There are many ways to help. The menu is long. Buy, buy, buy !!!
And here is the advertising slogan of the first Sunday Show that was: "Sunday Show? It’s crazy!"
