Funds for the acquisition of material for the execution of crochet powders, by volunteers, for premature babies born at the Hospital Nélio Mendonça - Funchal.
Project where volunteers make 100% cotton crochet dusts and donate to public hospitals to help premature babies. Since the original design, the idea is that the polvinhos are not marketed, but made and distributed on a voluntary basis. These powders help premature babies feel more secure and comfortable in maternity wards all over the world. According to Denmark, when the newborn is in the belly, he plays with the umbilical cord, which resembles the octopus tentacles, and rests on the uterine wall, which Resembles the head of the toy. The little ones still get the wires from monitoring equipment and the feeding tube less when they are taken in by the animals, which is very common with hospitalized babies. A faster recovery of children is also observed. There is actually an improvement in heart rate stability and in premature breathing and they gain weight faster as well.
Although there is no published scientific study on the subject yet, the benefits of octopuses are undeniable. It is possible to prove the efficacy of crochet octopus through what we call an observational study, in which physicians around the world have reported us their observations also positive.
The funds collected will revert to the acquisition of material (cotton yarn, dracalon / silicon fiber, needles) so that volunteers can dump and publicize this initiative in different IPSS, so that we can have a greater number of volunteers collaborating for This project. Donated powders should be offered to infants later when they leave the Hospital so they can take their Incubator Friend with them. Initially we intend to look for volunteers who can collaborate to have an initial sample of about 12 powders. Subsequently, the goal is to do workshops in Casas do Povo, Community Centers, IPSS, or with groups of people who want to learn and volunteer in this project. We will ask AJEMed Madeira to be responsible for collecting the powders and evaluating the quality and safety parameters, and delivering them to SESARAM. The project should be publicized by facebook, possibly in some media and traditional word-of-mouth.
